Morning and Evening: Updated Language Edition (An Updated, Modern-Language Edition with Two Daily Devotionals per Day)

I am very excited about this purchase! I almost didn’t buy it because some of the reviews said it wasn’t the updated version that it was actually a different size, and the font was too small. The pictures they were showing were of a different item altogether, so I thought the seller must have designed a cool cover but sent something else’s the product . But I took a leap of faith and this book is everything I was hoping it would be appearance-wise! I haven’t read the content yet but I wanted to make sure I put a review on here that showed what the product actually looks like!

This book is just the right size for morning and evening reading. Other reviews mentioned the size of the font, which is small, but not shockingly small. I did not find the quality of paper to be lesser. The outside of the book is beautiful.

Post ed a pic of the book and said how great Spurgeon was and got a reject saying I was violating community guidelines. You know, now that I think about it I might have even mentioned Jesus Christ in my review, so they probably thpught it was blasphemous. We all know the truth. They hate that name!

I ordered this because I was wanting the pocket size and not a hard back (for ease of travel). However I am not a fan of old English, and as such I wanted the updated version. I spent quite a while looking all over amazon and when you click the "look inside" on this book it shows you they updated language version. However, upon receipt this is not the updated version.To be fair there is nothing wrong with the quality or content of the book, its just not what I ordered.

This devotional offers anointed entries that encourage and challenge my everyday walk with Christ!I utilize this devotional during my morning and evening quiet times. The Holy Spirit has moved mightily during each reading!I am so thankful for Spurgeon's authentic way in communicating the Gospel to the reader.

This book has really helped my Aspie husband to understand the Bible better---which is a miracle!

Love this book. Charles Spurgeons daily devotion is Right on in the way we should walk with God. Each daily devotion is definitely from the Holy Spirit .

I purchased two copies of the matt black, imitation leather version of "Morning and Evening". I'm specifying this because I noticed the reviews for the "Morning and Evening" devotional by C.H. Spurgeon can be for different editions. While there are plenty of reviews by others regarding the devotional itself (it's a work of Spurgeon; how could it not be awesome?), I'd like to comment on the physical, descriptive aspects of this edition.The book is barely larger than a common checkbook, and is only 5/8" thick (not the almost one inch as listed under the book's dimensions), which is perfect for toting around (it fits perfectly and rather comfortably in the front pocket of a pair of Dockers). The cover is indeed a matt black finish, unlike the almost shiny appearance of leather Bible covers. The type is small but is very readable to my 41-year old eyes, with the morning reading on the left page and the evening's on the right. The paper is just like that of a good-quality Bible; thin, almost tissue paper-like, but not so thin that they're overly delicate. The golden edges and a black ribbon marker give the book a very "bible-esque" appearance.I wasn't sure if the edition I ordered contained the original, unabridged work of Spurgeon, complete with all the "thee"s and "thou"s, which is what I wanted. To the best of my knowledge, this is an unabridged version, and does indeed contain Spurgeon's original language (which at times is a bit archaic, but hey, it's Spurgeon. It never hurts to open a dictionary once in a while). The Bible translation used is the King James (which at times is a bit archaic, but hey, it's a classic and still a very accurate translation. It never hurts to open a dictionary once in a while :-)).After owning and reading this book for about a month, I'm very pleased with the overall construction of it. It's held up to being read and carried in my book bag or my pocket every day since receiving it. I'm also very pleased with the contents. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in search of a daily devotional who wants something more than most of the cotton candy-like fluff being passed off as Christian literature these days.

Inspiring twice-daily portions of Charles Spurgeon's teachings written as only he can. A wonderful companion to the Bible, encouraging and as fresh as the day the messages arose in his heart. The book is neat, very handsome, sturdy and a perfectly delightful gift. I already own a much used copy, and have purchased this for a friend. Delivery was swift and I am extremely pleased with everything relating to this product.

I was not very familiar with the works of Charles Spurgeon until I got theis book firstly on Kindle and then in book form. It has made me laugh aswell as weep with joy and thanks at God's free gift of salvation, love and forgiveness through Jesus. Spurgeon was clearly passionate in his love for Christ and his lovely words of wisdom and those which really challenge my faith and walk with God are priceless. A daily inspiration morning and evening!

I recommend that every household throughout the world should experience reading and meditating on Morning and Evening with the Bible. Very empowering, indeed. It would make a beautiful gift for an individual or family, no doubt whatsoever!

Excellent. Old-fashoined and elaborate language by today's standards, but what else would we expect? The theology is sound (of course) and the two daily readings quite inspirational.

My 20year old granddaughter loves it. Full of bible truths in beautiful language. Warms the heart.
