We're for sale
Once again John Tall Wolf is caught up in a scheme to grow and cultivate marijana in Washington State. He has the help of his fiancee and some Mexican immigrants. The story is well written and keeps the flow. Another winner. Book 5 is next on the agenda.

Flynn never disappoints in this series
Well, perhaps I should modify that and state Super Chief was a bit of a story to swallow but I certainly still enjoyed it. Smoke Signals was a book that entertained and all in all kept me reading long past my bedtime on a few nights. Character development continues and none of the Tall Wolf books is a stand alone tome so it makes sense to read them in order. Two more to go.

Great story and interesting characters.
I liked the plot twists and the addition of new characters. The author is developing more and more of the main characters as well.

Not sure I appreciate the direction Tall Wolf series is taking
This is the second series by Flynn in which I began to see a downward drift in his story development. The McGill series started out so well, but as the series progressed, the overt drift into certain politics and feminism became a distraction. Once again, we see all those "nasty" and amoral Republicans who must be overcome by the altruistic Democrats. I had to drop the series because McGill became less and less the focus. Unfortunately, the Tall Wolf series has continued to bring more and more of the Darden administration into the picture, which has been somewhat of a turnoff. Lastly, the Native American spirituality was an essential part of the series until Flynn decided to go into the fantasy realm with Marlene's Coyote persona. The best part of early books was always that hint that she might be Coyote, but no one really knew. Now, we've gone into full Werewolf mode with her and much of the story line begins to be fantasy, which is not why I began reading the series. Focus more on Tall Wolf. He's the focal point. And please keep the Darden administration in the background as far as possible.

Series good until now
I have enjoyed the series until the end of this book when Tall Wolf gets married. Each time this author adds family to the storyline it becomes boring to me. For those who like full family involvement in a story, the next two books will appeal to you. Enjoy

Smoke Signals
It was time to visit a few friends I wanted to catch up with, so I opened SMOKE SIGNALS to read... Okay, I admit it: what really happened was I missed the ongoing battle of the wits between John Tall Wolf and Marlene Flower Moon aka Coyote, the Trickster...Marlene Flower Moon is Acting Secretary of the Interior... John Tall Wolf is Director of the BIA’s Office of Justice Services... Marlene sends John on an assignment to Washington state...John Tall Wolf winds up with a few unexpected companions as he investigates the illegal marijuana operation taking place on Freddie Straight Arrow's property... Marlene has big plans for Freddie and she is already giving him ideas...What a great read! This was the best book in the series (so far). Like the earlier books in the series, the book captures your attention in the beginning and the suspense will keep you turning the pages, anxious to see what happens next. Before I knew it, I reached the end of the story: the conclusion of the investigation and the long-awaited best part...AfterThought: Marlene was my favorite character in this story — the more I learn about the Coyote, the more I want to know...

It could happen
Hidden grow operations, a conscripted workforce and folks willing to betray whoever they must to stay alive. This is just the beginning of the adventure John, Rebecca and that coyote find in the forests of Washington State.Among this cast of characters we find a hero who will do anything to protect his wife, an unlucky photographer, a hungry bear, a fool coveting another man's wife and a band of Canadian mercenaries (kinda sounds like an oxymoron right) and a drug kingpin and his minions. It comes together in a quick paced and often amusing tale.Start at the beginning the catch up. I'm sure you will enjoy this series as a fun, fast, and entertaining read.

Another Winner
John Tall Wolf and Rebecca Bramley spend their latest adventure in the north Cascades in Washington State. The book has Flynn's trademark fast-paced action and witty dialogue, along with a more overt nod to the supernatural than his previous books. The only thing I wish he had done differently was give us a better sense of the beautiful country in the Pacific Northwest. I'm looking forward to their next adventure.

John Tall Wolf deals with drug barons!
I enjoyed this story immensely, John’s fiancé Rebecca, a Canadian Mountie joins him in his latest adventure, investigating illegal occupation of a Native American’s land in Washington state. The land has been used by Mexican drug barons to grow and process marijuana using illegal immigrants brought into the country for labour. Rebecca is involved in a police investigation back in Toronto involving a fellow officer and sexual assault. The story interweaves with what is happening in Toronto, in Mexico with the drug cartel and in Washington with final scenes given a ‘Hunger Games’ style resolution.
