This product works well as a replacement. Chevy went cheap on the plastic clips that are part of the tailgate latch. Tons of chevy owners are driving around with a tailgate that will not open. Its a cheap, easy fix. Problem is, when you fix the clips, this plastic cover, now brittle from years of service breaks. This replacement fit well, it has double sided tape to assist the clips in holding it in place. Highly recommend.

Good price. As advertised. I saw several reviews that stated problems breaking the plastic "clips" during installation. I did not have this problem. The adhesive foam is a must and the reason I ordered this particular one. The design of these bezels isn't ideal(that's on GM, not the seller) They all break eventually. This is a cost effective, true fitting replacement.Edit 9/24/17 - after nearly a year of bouncing around the high country and countless job sites, this is still looking like it did after installation. No issues, even with a lot of rough use. Would buy againEdit 6/12/18 - lots more miles of rough country on it.....still holding strong

Perfect fit for my 2001 Silverado , although after I put it on it was being pushed out by the foam tabs and didn't seat well. . I remembered what others have said about the plastic tabs breaking off , but luckily I was able to remove this without breaking it, then - removed the foam tabs and snapped it back into place. Now - it's a perfect fit. I gave it a Five Star simple because it's a good replacement at a low cost , and also , you can not find these at the wrecking yard. Believe me - I've looked all over and this is the only place I found one.

I was able to install it successfully without breaking the top tabs. I watched a few YouTube videos that said it was easy to break the tabs, but I was careful and had no problem. I was somewhat worried when I ordered it that it may be wrong part because the dimensions in the description were wrong.

Took care on installation. Bottom first. Fit great. Looks good. Not sure what the bad reviews are about on installation. Of course if it’s freezing... plastic is brittle. I installed at nearly 65 degrees. Some complained about the pads being too thick. I’d rather they are a slightly thicker than thinner and keep it tight against the tailgate.

Fantastic low price and great product, exact match for a replacement for my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup tailgate latch surround, bezel, or escutcheon, whatever you want to call it. It fits great and looks and feels exactly like the original equipment one that broke for some reason.It only cost $6.00 with shipping although I got it for only $3.83 because of some kind of fine that Amazon is patin's its patrons! If I bought it from aChevrolet parts store it would probably be $20.00 or more

fairly easy to install.put the bottom in first and then with a screwdriver just barely push the top tabs down just a little while pushing it forward.this helps the top tabs get under where they need to be.it should snap easily into place.I also replaced the green and red plastic thingys holding the left and right handle rods that r connected to the latch.they r real cheap on amazon.do it before u put the basil back on.one of mine broke but its 20 years old.I replaced both of them.EASY.I also left the spongy things with tape on them too.there is one on each side inside of the basil .good luck
