Fan Blade Inverse of Original, But Made It Work
The bathroom fan on my 2014 Keystone Bullet failed, and this seemed like the most well reviewed, likely replacement. The motor is bigger than original, and to mount I had to enlarge the central shaft hole, and also make a template of the mounting holes and drill which were wider, and I reclocked them away from the original holes to ensure mounting in good/solid metal.I got it all installed and working when I realized the blade needed to be mounted upside down to have the correct blade and spin orientation to pull air OUT of bathroom, vs force air into the bathroom, and send bathroom smells > RV.I reversed it, and then saw this was how it was installed in the video ⌠but realistically the fan blade should be a mirror opposite of the one supplied to allow mounting with heavier bottom of the fan down. (See photo of original)As is, thereâs a little imbalance ⌠and one has to force the D-Shaft through the narrowest part of the fan blade, and manually set the depth of the blade so it doesnât rub the metal mounting bracket. My old blade/motor were spline shafted, vs the superior D-Shaft on this unit, so mounting the old fan blade wasnât a ready option, and I didnât want to mess with attempting to reform the old splined blade > DShaft, and the motor was already mounted and wired into the vent.Overall it works much better than the original, but the blade is a little out of balance and noisier than when mounted heavy bottom of fan downwards due to the fan blade being forced to be mounted upside down for the correct orientation of blade/pitch to exhaust (shown mounted this same way in the video).OH ⌠this required bigger motor mounting screws than my original fan (not included) but the threaded holes in the motor were identical to fine threaded PC screws, and thatâs whatâs firmly holding it up in vent.
