The Lost House

My bright five-year old granddaughter solved the picture puzzles, page by page, in one sitting! I had previewed each two-page spread and concluded that we would probably end up reading the book in smaller sections, but she was determined to get through the whole thing at once. I agree with some other reviewers that the color schemes can be somewhat displeasing, but they add to the challenge and did not seem to bother my granddaughter. There are so many wonderful details to explore.

I bought this for our 4 and half year old grandson for Christmas. Good quality book, pages, covers and binding appear to be able to last for awhile. We spent about 15 mins going thru the first 3 pages, pretty good for that age. He said we could do more later. Anyone with a child in the 4 to 6 age knows that you only get a finite number of minutes. Draw your own conclusion. The graphics are challenging. Try finding all the objects on your own before sitting down with anyone under 7 yrs.

I still cannot find grandpa's spectacles and I am an adult! I haven't yet tested this on a child but it looks interesting even if rather too busy. I would have preferred the pages to be full of colours rather than just one colour (apart from the characters in the book who are in more than one colour). However, that is my personal preference but then I am not five years old.

This is a great book! I got it for my son who is five. It took him a bit to warm up to it and I had to sit with him to give clues but after three pages or so he was looking all on his own (and finding everything!). He was so proud! The use of color is wonderful and the elements of whimsy make it equally engaging. We leave it on the coffee table for visitors of all ages to enjoy!

Super cute book! The items are just hard enough to find that it keeps kids interested in the book for a good amount of time. I will be purchasing the others in the series!

My children (4&6) love looking through this book. Even thought they've memorized the location of the items listed, they always find new funny things on each page.

I was hoping for more from this book it was just so so. Hard to see pictures even after you find the item, you wonder if that is actually it.

I really enjoy this book. They have beautiful and interesting illustrations to look at. Very vibrant and colorful, large size. My daughters love reading them and finding throughout the detailed pages.

Wonderful book

This is a joy both for adults and the children it was done for. Great color, images and fun. A must have.

This book has few words and centers around a very simply story - help Granddad find his lost items, hidden in beautiful illustrations of chaotic single-colored rooms. The illustrations are unique and somehow old-fashioned. One could easily enjoy this book with very young children, who will have fun pointing out the many things they see in the pictures, each of which stretches across two pages of the generously-formatted hardcover version. My 8-year-old and I took about half an hour to find all the items listed in the book's actual text, some of which seemed trickier than others. This would make a lovely gift for any family with young children, or even for a new baby -- before long the very stimulating pictures will be a source of delight for a tot on an adult's lap.
