Primary Pump - you should buy this
Background -Let me start by saying that I am a FTM, I originally pumped with the Freemie cups/pumps, and I an a busy body. I don't even remember how I found out about this pump, but I love it. While my hands were free with the electric pump, I had to sit still. At first that was fine as I recovered. As I regained my mobility I neglected to pump as much, which lead to engorgement, baby continued to have problems latching properly, and I gave more formula. I hated to give baby so much formula, but what was I to do?Enter whatever Haakaa ad I saw and a quick Google/Youtube search. BOOM!. I'm back to increasing my milk supply and stuffing those bottles with milk! Now for the actual product review:Placement -This pump was a bit tricky to manipulate at first - coming from sore nipples and the above story. It takes a little time to figure out the right ratio of areola to nipple and to get the proper suction. Like most people, I assume, I just squeeze out the air and stick it on like a regular suction cup, but that hurt. Have patience when figuring out how to place it. It is worth it. There is a diagram in the packaging and plenty of realistic videos to guide you.Speed -It does take a long time to pump the milk out. This product works by suction and it may take a minute for your body to get accustomed to the way it does it. This could also be because I am steadily increasing my supply rather than working with an established routine. I figure once I get back to work and on a regular schedule it won't take so long to get more. I have read that it works best while breastfeeding your LO. Well, for those of us who have a LO that prefers the bottle nipples - this is can be used as a primary pump. Personally, I pump one at a time until the letdown has slowed, then switch sides.Versatility/Mobility -I keep my mobility my carefully placing breast and pump under a semi tight shirt (camisole) and am careful on the bending and stooping so that Idon't knock it off. I'm actually pumping while sitting 'criss-cross-apple-sauce' on the couch. Once your're done with pumping, to stabilize it while you get the freezer bag or bottle ready, there is a handy suction base that stabilizes the pump while on the counter/table. It does work for us larger girls (I am well above a D AND I have a short torso).*On another note, if you hold your LO while attached to this pump there is a very real danger that they can smack or kick it off.*Cons -I wish that it came with a top rather than having to buy the flat top or flower thing. The suction doesn't stay when the milk level is low. I get that it expands as you produce, but sometimes after I place the pump in the beginning one side will pop out slowing the suction 'speed' and I'll have to replace or re-suction the thing. The markings on the side are not accurate. I have to place the milk in another container to get the true measurement. All in all, this is the pump for me. I don't think I'd pump while driving just yet, but I would whip this thing out in a jiffy if I were traveling. It has just the right amount of suction to be gentle and get all of your milk out. Best of all - after I learned to properly place the pump - NO MORE SORE NIPPLES!!!Enjoy Ladies.

Highly recommended !!
I am super impressed with the simplicity and use of this product. Hope my review will benefit someone:I am an exclusive pumper with a slow flow . I generally have to pump for 5-10 minutes before let down happens. Here is how i use the haakaa :1) Sometimes during pumping , milk is collected predominantly from one breast and the other breast starts leaking an hour after pumping. Using the haakaa gets rid of engorgement on the leaky breast.2. I dont do pumping sessions in the middle of the night. I still wake up to bottle feed the baby and many times the breasts leak during such times. I simply attach the haakka before i start the bottle feed and i have a decent collection in half an hour (milk supply hormones are supposed to be highly active in the 1AM-4AM time)Summary : This will NOT replace an electric pump , but highly beneficial for breastfeeding moms and exclusive pumpers

Great, especially for night pumping.
I've used this since about 2 weeks from birth and have found easy to use and convenient. I pump 1-2 daily just to build up some extra storage for when I leave our little one with my partner. My little one is now sleeping through the night until about 4am and this works great to prevent engorgement in the breast I'm not nursing little one on. Also works if I'm out and about because I can do it in my car inconspicuously. Just pop it on and no noise, no complicated clean up, and not bulky. I will say that you have to keep an eye on how full it is getting because the suction lessens the fuller it gets and you have to be careful not to bump it. I can do certain breastfeeding positions (cross-cradle, cradle, etc.) and pretty much stick to football when I'm using it while breastfeeding on the other breast. I'll likely switch to an electric pump when I go back to work, but this has been wonderful and will continue to use at night and on weekends. May try to get two and use at work to, but I'm concerned it won't "pump" fast enough for me to get in and out while at work.

Useful for leaking & letdowns
If you’re looking to quickly build a milk stash or replace your pump, this isn’t for you. But if you have the time to dedicate to a Haakaa, I highly recommend them. I had a basic one that had been knocked over one too many times, and the suction cup base is a LIFE SAVER. no more worries about spills! In the morning i can usually collect about 3 oz from one side! Sometimes you do have to readjust the suction power, and when I first started using these, they did cause some mild discomfort. But I’ve been using it habitually for about a month now and I barely even feel it there anymore. One thing you will want to check out is the OZ measurements. One of my haakaas is very off. The 1oz line is actually about a half oz. this particular one is almost exactly accurate. Just make sure not to let the pump fall off during nursing. I’ve lost OZs that way :( the fuller it gets the heavier it becomes. Overall, I love this product when I don’t have the energy to pump. It won’t collect as much, nor as fast. But it’s so much less work!

Almost perfect!
It seems like the silicone on the gen 2 is a little thicker which makes the suction really strong at first. Almost painfully strong. A few minutes pass and the suction dies more than my gen 1.Halfway through some feeds my daughter has easily kicked this off my breast and milk spilled all over me.The suction base is awesome…in theory. Very seldom does it actually stay suctioned to the surface I’ve stuck it to. Though it’s not the best, it does offer a little more stability than the gen 1 so I’m not mad at it.All in all, it’s a Hakka. It saves my milk like my other Hakka and I love it. Having two has been awesome and I recommend the Hakka to all moms-to-be!

WOW!
Okay BF mums - I was skeptical about whether this would be handy to have, and it’s safe to say this is the BEST investment I’ve made on my breastfeeding journey.I have the medala hand pump, electric spectra s2 & a mumilk wearable - THIS GETS THE BEST OUTPUT in the LEAST amount of time.Once you learn how to manipulate the suction & realise that you can even control the expression of milk, this becomes the best thing ever.HIGHLY highly recommend - especially for my bigger breast mummas.

Best purchase ever
I bought another brand of silicone pump before and it worked well, so I wanted to buy more. This brand is cheaper so I bought two of this. Turns out I like this one better! It’s more soft and easier to use. It has more capacity (100ml), but if you use this while breastfeeding and your baby is in front of your belly, it can only contain 50ml before it tips over due to the awkward position. If you breastfeed while holding your baby sideways there should be no problem.
