Bottom Line Office Supplies was great!!
This ink cartridge is required in my printer, but Canon doesn't include it in the box that has all other cartridges needed for the printer. Crazy. I was able to get it from Bottom Line Office Supplies through Amazon, and it was exactly what I needed at a good price. It was well packaged and arrived on the day it was expected. :)

You can get cheaper, but you won't get better. True color; fast drying; no bleed-over
I've been using Canon inks for years, and can be fair in evaluating them. First of all, when used with Canon's paper (glossy, but not the super premium), it dries relatively quickly. A 5x7 will dry in 40 minutes, and can be put behind glass in about 8 hours just to be safe. But the best thing is that I've yet to experience bleed-over or separation lines between colors. In two weeks, I have a showing. It is critical that the colors be true, and there's just no other ink that I would use than what goes with THIS Canon. You save about $8 by buying all four at once, but that can be misleading since you don't use all inks at the same rate. I will only print my best nature photos, usually birds, butterflies, snakes, and such.In order of use, I run through them as follows: Magenta, Cyan, Black, and Yellow. (My Canon printer takes a double wide Black and a regular black, but since I rarely use it for printing anything but photos, black is my lowest priority. (I have a 17 year old LaserJet IV for such printing.)I do wish there was a way to buy Cyan and Magenta in "bulk," i.e., four of each, so that I can fulfill my lifelong dream: to die just as I run out of all four rather than having $200 in ink from a printer I no longer own. I have several B3 Black and Yellow cartridges from my previous Canon and, of course, they don't fit the 2 year old PIXMA.I feel like the guy at the race track who says, "I hope I break even. I could use the money."EW

good quality print, unreasonably expensive
This particular ink is getting hard to find both locally and on Amazon. Sometimes it's available and sometimes it's not. Because my printer still works, I don't want to replace it with a newer, expensive model full of bells and whistles I don't want. So, when I couldn't find Canon 221 ink, I tried a less expensive off-brand. It was much more reasonably priced, but the colors weren't true. So, back I came to the expensive and hard to find ink. It gives good quality prints every time with true colors. As long as I can find it from a vendor who will ship to Alaska I'll continue to order it.

Very good ink, better than refurbished
I have a printer at home that takes this ink from Canon and it works really well. I have had a previous printer that took Canon ink, and even though it is expensive, it does the job, compared to refurbished inks that say they are the same as the real ink. Most computer technicians out there tell you to stick with the name brands of inks and toners and to NOT use the refurbished kinds, even though they are cheaper and inexpensive and look the same as the real stuff. The refurbished inks and toners can ruin your printer a lot quicker than regular expensive name brand inks and toners. You will be spending a lot of money trying to get your printer fixed or buying a new one if you use refurbished ink.I used refurbished ink in the past for my previous printer and it died on me because one of the ink wells died and couldn't produce the right ink...it dried up considerably, whereby I had to get a brand new printer for the price of a diagnostic test on the previous printer. All in all, lesson is this: Stick with the name brand ink and toner that your manufacturer of your printer says to use. And even though they are more expensive than the refurbished inks, stick with what is best and your printer will thank you for it. You will get richer color and contrast on each copy of print when you use regular name brand ink that is for your printer. This ink is one of the best out there and by far it has richer colors than other inks. Canon is great for what it does.

Cheaper than a NEW PRINTER?
I have learned the hard way from buying cheaper off generic brand ink compatible cartridges (Epson & Canon) only to have my printer clogged up or leaking with ink that ruined a couple of good printers. Yes, the off brand inks will work for awhile, but will produce slight color variations in the finished quality print and eventually WILL CLOG your print heads and leak. Printers are much cheaper now and YES, the price of NAMED BRAND ink cartridges cost as much as the printer but that's the price of QUALITY CONTROL to maintain your printer working in top form for many years. I purchased the CLI-221 (4pk COLOR INK) and the CLI-220 (3pk BLACK INK)for the third time in a row without any problems. To me this is a lot cheaper than the head aches and time consumed measured in hours or days of not completing a print job and the mess of cleaning from a clogged or leaking print head inside my nice printer that is now worthless. Also add the time that it takes to drive (gasoline) to a local store and get a new printer to replace your clogged or leaking printer. If you want to save some serious bucks go to AMAZON for the best ink prices and best printers prices too, if time is not of the essence and still no tax and with FREE SHIPPING to my house! I will not compromise my time nor quality ever again, to save a few dollars that will cost me triple the amount including a new printer to replace from a clogged or leaking printer by using off brand generic ink compatible cartridges. THANK YOU AMAZON FOR A SUPER DEAL ON A GENUINE CANON PRODUCT!

More expensive than other ink sources, but you get what you pay for.
There are tons of remanufactured cartridges on the market, as well as lots of refill stations in malls. So why buy genuine? Simply because the quality is there. Sure, genuine costs more, but you know the ink and container are designed specifically for, and warranted for, your printer.Over the years I've tried remanufactured and "alternate" supplier cartridges in printers, and while the vast majority of them won't do any harm, I have had two printers messed up because of lousy ink that clogged the print heads. So, not much of a bargain when I had to replace the printers completely. Since then I've always bought the original ink, and continue to do so. I think of it as cheap insurance for my printer, and I know the quality is guaranteed.

Not sure if it's authentic canon
I haven't printed anything in colors since I bought this, which was about 3 months ago. This week, while printing, there was a warning that cartridges needed to be changed. No, I don't recommend this item.
