become the zen master of the human mind.
do not learn the habits other management books teach. you must not learn how to lean, direct, manipulate people. you must understand those people, learn about them, how they learn, put them in departments that they can really thrive in and do well, and teach them how they can have exactly what they want, by doing what you want. if you're having trouble in the workplace, you're either not praying, or you haven't read this book. okay really, I know you don't pray for the people at your office, you only get to work each day and hope there's no friction and everyone is in a good mood. and after driving across Houston, you're probably all ready not in a good mood yourself. should've prayed the whole drive there. but you also should've read this book over and over and over. it is pure, concentrated, fulfilling knowledge of unadultered interpersonal relationship building and maintenance. This book is water to my thirsty brain. Even if you're just a student or a grocery clerk, you NEED this book. Also recommended is The Caffeine Blues, The Rib, The Edge Effect, The Two Babylons, Fast Food Nation, Dollar Noncents, and Pigs in the Parlor.

ok
This book is ok. I tend to be a cynic when it comes to business related books that are supposed to empower you.

Exceptional and Complete
Covers topics such as Planning and Goal Setting, Evaluating and Controlling Performance, Valuing Diversity, Decision Making, Effective Use of Listening, Questioning & Feedback, Nonverbal Communication, Understanding Behavioral Type & Styles, Learning Styles, Sending Clear Messages, Motivating Others, Creating High Performing Teams, Managing Conflict, Effective Problem Solving with direct reports, & Leading Change. This is one of the better supervision/management books I have read. I have written down over 40 noteworthy ideas to be merged into this review, I will give a few here."The primary theme of this book is the creation of trust bonds for constructive positive relationships as a means to personal, professional, and organizational effectiveness. To achieve those bonds it is essential to understand ourselves and others, to be effective in communicating this understanding, and to be able to facilitate others' achievement of mutually acceptable goals."On motivation:"Motivation consists of a conscious decision to direct effort in an activity to achieve a goal that will satisfy a predominate need. This definition of motivation contains 3 elements: (1) some need, motive or goal that triggers action; (2) a selection process that directs the choice of action; and (3) the intensity of effort that is applied to the chosen action. In essence, motivation governs behavior selection, direction, and level of effort."One could view this book as a 360 degree guide to increase your self awareness & foresight, effectively helping yourself and those around you. It's that good.
