Brilliant Iron
This is my third Morphy Richards Steam Generator iron. The last one gave up the ghost and I bought a standard iron to tide me over as it was so close to Black Friday. Only used the standard iron three times, before ordering this one, but I cannot explain how happy I was when this was in the Black Friday sale and on its way to me!The iron itself is brilliant. Much better than the previous model. It takes a bit of getting used to resting the iron in its base, if you’re used to a flat surface, but after the first few garments, I was comfortable with that. The water tank capacity is enough for a load of washing and the lowest steam setting is more than enough for most things. The only negative is that my two previous models had a base that the cords wrapped around and a metal bracket to retain them. This has a moulded plastic thing that wraps around to the base and you have to feed the cables through it-they don’t really fit and it’s a massive faff-my other half has threatened to cut them off already!!!All in all, excellent and I would recommend

Does a great job ironing but poor design
After my previous Morphy Richards steam generator iron started tripping the fuse I decided to upgrade to this model. Having used it today to do the weekly ironing I note a few things:-1. It irons the clothes well, running smoothly over the materials. The iron didn't feel flimsy to me, as some reviews have mentioned.2. The steam button is going to take a bit of getting used to, sometimes the steam stays on until the button is pressed again, other times it just gives a burst of steam, there is probably a knack to controlling it but haven't quite worked it out yet. Plenty of steam though!3. I don't like not being able to stand the iron up on it's end though. It has to be placed back on the generator station every time which although safer i.e. it can't fall over, is a bit annoying and lengthens the overall ironing time.4. The power cable storage and the Steam cable storage system is not fit for purpose, how it ever got passed the planning stage without it being scrapped is hard to believe. Previously the power cable just wrapped around the base of the station, simple and effective; now you have to 'stuff' it into a small hole in the side, where it just hangs out, a complete and utter design failure in my opinion. It is early days yet, as I said it does exactly what it is supposed to do and effectively, just a couple of design flaws.

Don’t buy one
Just like my last Morphy Richards steam generator (Power Steam Elite) this also developed the same fault after a year to 18 months where it constantly spits out large volumes of water all the way through ironing, from start to finish.I live in a soft water area so that is not the cause. An obvious fault with a part falling somewhere, which their technicians should be aware of, but MR did not resolve my issue, and in fact were not helpful at all. They issued a standard reply basically blaming the customer for using the wrong settings - I didn’t suddenly start using the wrong settings -I advised them that the issue was nothing to do with user settings and also the fact that the user physically cannot prematurely use any stream at all with this iron - no reply. They will not honour the warranty, as I didn’t register when I bought it, less than 2 years ago. Will never buy another one of these.

Excellent
The best thing is that it's a gadget rather than a household tool, so is interesting for a man! My partner Bill saw it, his eyes lit up and the next thing, all the ironing was done. We have 2 holiday lets, so we're not short of ironing. He ironed one supeking size duvet in record time, then just steamed the second SK duvet, which was hanging over a rack. Both methods worked brilliantly, but we'll be steaming them from now on, because it's awkward to use an ironing board with such a large item. He says the large water reservoir is great but make sure you're ironing in a well-ventilated area (eg next to an open window) because the iron generates so much steam that the windows get fogged-up.We can't comment on longevity, because we've only had it a week, but the verdict so far is 5 stars.
