Great detector. This is the first detector I’ve ever owned after doing tons of research on machines in this price range. I’ve had it out a few times and have found some great stuff in farm fields as well as backyards. Does great on coins! It’s nice and lightweight and I love the functionality. Being able to adjust the settings for specific targets is a great feature. The headphones are a little uncomfortable by I have bigger ears so I’m blaming that! Also, the pinpointed is possibly the greatest invention ever. Wouldn’t consider going out detecting without it. Overall a great product and I have yet to be disappointed.

Obtained as an upgrade to the Ace 250 and it was certainly an upgrade, greater depth and more accurate target id. Well pleased.

I bought my husband a starter detector a few years ago that still works great, but this model is a definite upgrade. He is now learning to identify the sounds of different types of metal, which has significantly cut down on his junk digs.

I was so excited to receive my Garrett ACE400 metal detector three days earlier than anticipated. It was a little hard to put together for (this old lady) but I got it. Looking to find that special treasure soon. Thank you.

This is my first metal detector so I don’t have anything to compare it to. It does exactly what it says and advertises. Like any thing, the more you use it the better you will get.

I was able to find some coins when this worked...about a week outside of the return date the ace 400 just stopped working. The machine went completely haywire all kinds of random signals even when cool is in the air. Amazon would not refund all of my money, stating there was a restocking fee?? Are they planning on re selling this machine to someone else? I learned the hard way so you don't have to. Take my advice, save your money and get something nicer like the Equinox 600, or 800.

Gave it 4 stars overall even though 5 stars in the 3 areas because changing the batteries is inconvenient. Its a great machine, take it out of the box, put it together, turn it on and go. I was finding wheat cents litterally within 2 minutes of its first use with very strong signals.To get to the battery compartment you slide the top off of the yellow control box down towards the coil. Only problem is, its sloped downwards and hits the locking ring where the handle piece goes in to the long shaft. So, you have to unplug the coil from the control box, loosen the lock ring (whatever its called) and back out the handle piece from the shaft far enough to open the battery compartment to change batteries. Then of course put it back together. This was not a good design decision and frankly Im a bit surprised that such an amazingly well known and excellent detector company like Garrett would miss this or let it go.Its a great machine and no regrets buying it. Just wish they thought the battery changing process through more.
