Easy set up, good features, haven't really put it to test yet
As most of the other reviews have mentioned, this review is based only on our initial experience with set up and testing, fortunately my daughter has not needed to trigger an alarm yet!Set up was extremely easy. We tested all 3 levels of alerts, and are now thinking through some plans for who she will add, and how she will want us to react.I will point out a few things that we really liked:- one click for "check in". She has a car with her at school, and when she is driving at night or travelling around with her club sports team, this will make that "got here safely" message much more likely to happen.- She can actually use the smartphone app to trigger alerts also. She feels that this is a good option to have for flexibility, and that she and her friends can probably take advantage of that in some situations at school such as crowded parties.- seems like there are lots of different ways to carry/attach the device

but the tests are great. Immediate notification of the type of alert
She hasn't had to use it, but the tests are great. Immediate notification of the type of alert, Amber or Red, with the exact GPS location as well as the option to call. As a father I hope she never has to use it but it does help provide a little more of a piece of mind.

Software Concerns - Dogfooding Desperately Needed!
UPDATE: Another issue...Battery drain. The product wasn't a fit for my needs. Specifically giving it to my grandmother, so that she might be able to press to reach me. Just got a call from my grandfather about how his iPhone needed a new battery and was about to get a new battery for a 1 yr iPhone. Well... the problem was that the app (over the past 7 days) was accounting for ~70% of battery usage. I had him uninstall/delete the app - and we will see what happens.A lot of software issues with this product. Ones that I'm worried will be carried over to their new 'Insight' - BUT ones that could be fixed. Specifically:1) SETUP - Got this for my grandparents. We all have iPhone 6s' running the latest iOS. During the initial setup - I added myself as a contact, per their workflow.Well - I get a SMS text asking me to verify via a link. Only problem - the link is not clickable?... Granted it was shortened, so I was able to pull my Nexus 5x (yeah - I'm one of those jerks with two phones on my, but I hack on both, so ... )... and I was able to manually type in this shortened URL. This would turn a lot of people off. BUT... MY PROBLEM IS...I get an email with the same information ~half hour later. But with a clickable link. So why the hell did I get that TXT? That tells me that the dev's are not practicing dogfooding (i.e. really using their own product) and that worries me. Getting two links via two different channels - sloppy.2) USE: After initial setup and some time - it is unreliable and requires user interaction on one's smartphone. I mentioned this to the team on their youTube channel and basically was told - no interaction is needed by the end user on their phone, a user just needs to press the product. Mind you - the actual youTube video that they produced, clearly shows the user having to press the Revolar then interact with their phone for it to properly function. What if you are in trouble - Press the Revolar and then Turn on your Phone? ( It may be due to how Apple implements the BLE stack - but geeze, shouldn' their dev team know this...)Remember that question of dogfooding - well, I think it gets worse. I think that the developers are sub'ed ( that's normal ) but the Revolar team is unable to properly manage their dev's. That's a big problem.I live in the valley - hang out with a lot of startup/tech people; a ton of software ships on day one and is total crap. That's normal. What makes for a great company though, the product gets better - fast. Also the team recognizes and details screw ups before the customer - not make excuses. I think the team is unable to manage their development talent and their developers are not using the product as intended.

... grandchildren however as it happens i am not so happy with this product
I purchased this Revolar for my grandchildren however as it happens i am not so happy with this product. Why? In my opinion this should go directly and immediately to 911 or the local police. As it happens, this Revolar is only adapted or capable of contacting 5 people or friends, and in my opinion in the case of an immediate emergency that by contacting any of these 5 people, it probably would not do any good whatsoever in the case of child molesting, robbery, or some kind of physical attack where one does not have so much time to contact real authorities that can heliport in the case of a real life threatening emergency.
