Love the Mighty Mila Books
We love these books! They’re great for exposure to a difference (hearing loss) but we love that the book’s focus isn’t hearing loss. The story is so fun, the illustrations are beautiful and colorful. Great for kids of all ages, but I’d find it especially perfect for ages 3-8.

Mighty Mila a great book for children!.
I loved that Mighty Mila showed inclusiveness! It is a positive statement that show a child achieving goals in a fun, creative, lively, self-accepting way. Very good book for everyone. Has a message for all children and adults. I loved that Mighty Mila showed a family working together to solve problems in a happy way. Mighty Mila deserves to be on children's bookshelves and in libraries.

A wonderful addition to any school or at-home book collection.
As a former Reading Specialist, I would strongly recommended this wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated picture book be used as a "read aloud" to children. This book should be part of every library collection, both in the classroom and at home. It could easily be part of the Character Education curriculum, especially aligning with the themes of "Respect for Self and Others" and "Friendship" as a springboard for very rich discussions. Mighty Mila's message of inclusivity is presented in such a fanciful, fun way! The children will love Mila, her siblings, and her purple cat! Now that I am retired, I will be happily reading Mighty Mila to each of my four grandchildren!

A totally heartwarming, loving and uplifting story, with fabulous illustrations!
"Absoutely gorgeous!" was my first reaction. Anyone with children who have hearing loss will be moved and uplifted by this funny and wonderfully magical story. :) Author Katie has successfully wrapped a warm, caring and positive feeling around deafness with her "Mighty Mila" book. It's based on her own irrepressible daughter. A clever and very charming book, and of course the sensational illustrations and sunny cover picture bring a smile too. Heartily recommended.

oh I LOVE this!
Such a darling book about a little girl. I almost forgot about her cochlear implants mid way through because it was such a funny book about a little girl and all the BIG things she wanted to do. The illustrations are just fabulous! This book needs to be incorporated into every library and classroom to show diversity and that EVERY CHILD is just perfect as they are! Love this!

An inspiring children's story
"Mighty Mila" is an educational and endearing story of a little girl named Mila who used Cochlear Implants to help her hear. She is grateful that this new technology can help her hear well. Mila decides she wants to become more independent. For example She's very proud she can get the toothpaste out of the tube all by herself. But that's not all. She learns to dress herself and even comes up with a creative solution when she has trouble tying her shoes. She shows a great deal of spunk and determination in the story. Her story can be a great example to other children with similar challenges. The illustrations are very cute, although the print is difficult to read in places, particularly in the back of the book. But I do think the questions and games at the back of the book will help children learn to observe things and to remember what happened in the book. Also, I'm pleased the book discusses hearing impairment and explains it so children can understand what the obstacles a hearing impaired child faces. The book may prevent bullying of a child with a hearing problem. I recommend the story.Review by children's author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne

A fun independent girl you can love to read about
Mila is great. I’ve just read this book before I read it with my girls and it’s got wonderful illustrations and a positive text in present tense. So we get to discover Mila’s day along with her. This book has a really nice feel to it, and, although hearing loss and implants are a big part of the main character’s life, it’s actually a story about being independent, and what that looks like.I liked the way the family is described as smiling, as visual is always important to a deaf person. I love the way that sounds are included in the story too.My experience is with British Sign Language and deaf culture but I would still recommend this charming book.

Love this book
One thing I love about this book is that it’s not entirely about wearing cochlear implants. I teach kids who are deaf and hard of hearing and I love that this book is about her wanting to be a big kid, and the fact that she has cochlear implants is not the main part of the story. I love to buy books that have kids wearing hearing technology and it’s hard to find books that are not just about hearing loss. The pictures are great and I love the guide at the end of the book that gives you cues on how to use it for auditory instruction and language development. I wish there was more books like this one!

Empowering little ones with difficulties.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this with my grandson. It shows a child with hearing impairment learning to use cochlear implants to gain confidence and independence. The story is pitched just right with humour and sensitivity. The illustrations are great and bring the story to life. I would highly recommend this book.
