Works, but not as supposed (see review)
When I first tried this cable, it did not work. All I got was a loud interference name and no picture. Then, a few days later, I got a strange idea. "What if the colors were swapped?" Low, and behold, this was it! The only way I could get the cable to work was to plug the white cable into where the yellow was supposed to go, and vice versa. To clarify, it seems that somehow in the manufacturing of this cable, the wrong colors were put on the connectors. Normally, the yellow output is for video, and the red and white were left and right audio channels. For some reason, the video is actually going through the white connector. For me, I connected red to red, yellow to white, and white to yellow. Perhaps, they had a color blind worker in the assembly line... I dunno. However, the cable does work when used this way. I will plan to put yellow and white tape on the connector ends to correct this problem.Correction- I think that RCA and other brands use a different wiring scheme. For me, the cable did not work correctly until I connected it with different colors than normal (see above). As mentioned by another person, this may not be a flaw, but a difference due to RCA's wiring scheme. I have added a couple stars to the review since then.

A MUST have item!
I recently purchased a smart TV. What I wanted to do, was to have the sound coming out of my stereo for videos and movies. As there are no outputs, this item allows you to have the sound to come from my TV to my stereo. There is just one-thing though: "You need a filter to go between these items. I used the gismo that allows you to lengthen RCA plugs. They are the small gadgets that has 2 female entries. You need one for each of the plugs. I only needed 2, one for the red plug and one for the white plug. Now that did the trick for me and I am enjoying my movies and videos as they are supposed to be, wonderfully heard to whatever level of sound that I NEED at that time!"

Attention RoKu 2XD Owners!
To use this cable involved a bit of investigation. After taking apart my RoKu, and checking the polarity of each of the three RCA connectors, I discovered which RCA was for Video and which two were audio connectors. Here is the breakdown. The Red cable is Video. The White and Yellow cable are Audio. But here's the rub. On the Red cable the polarity is reversed and will not work as received. To make my cable work with my RoKu 2XD I snipped off the Red RCA terminator and replaced it with a RCA replacement (thank you Radio Shack) end. I soldered the exposed wires of the cable, with the correct polarity, to the replacement RCA connector and Voila, it worked. This is after trying and HDMI to Component converter (50 bucks) and a HDMI to Component cable (worthless on RoKu devices in general). For this cheap little cable and a bit of investigation and soldering I now can connect my RoKu 2XD to my HDMI-less television.

Costs a little more, but worth it.
This cable is accurately described. Some will call any cable with a small phone plug on one end and three RCAs on the other end a "3.5 mm A/V Cable"There are two common sized A/V cables with RCAs on one end. The other end uses either a 1/8th inch (3.5mm nominal) or a 1/16th (2.5mm nominal) phone plug on the other. both carry 3 circuits, right audio, left audio, and video, plus ground or return. Usually, the red RCA is right audio, the white RCA is left Audio, and the yellow RCA is video, but some manufacturers stray from this convention. This one is the real deal.

Basic cable
Though this is a basic cable, I am not sure what else you would want. Digital info flows fine, and I am able to use them for what I wanted, to view on TV and to convert VCR material to digital for editing. Takes place in real time, and though slow it is an inexpensive way to do what I want.

It worked
This was my second cable purchase for my new Canon Vixia HF R30 camera. It worked as it should have when plugged in, I got the picture. The first one was much more cheaply built even though they both said they were made for Canon, it shouldn't have mattered as my old Sharp cord worked with my new camera fine. I just needed one for each and this one did the trick.

Terrible Cable
Like everybody else, I lost the original cable that came with my camcorder. I needed this type of cable to convert old home videos into digital. I thought there was no way a cable like this could be bad, so I bought this one from Amazon because it was one of the cheaper ones I could find. Big mistake.Once this cable was plugged in, there was a persistent buzzing sound and terrible audio quality. I thought for sure there was a problem with my camcorder. However, I found my original cable after using this and discovered there was no buzzing sound with that cable! A few of my friends had similar cables for their old camcorders, so I ended up trying 3 different cables with my camcorder. This was the only one with the terrible buzzing sound. If you're looking to use this with your camcorder, look elsewhere. The quality of this item is awful. Get a different cable and save yourself the trouble.
