DaiwaSSaltist Spinning Reel

This reel deserves more love. It's competitive with same priced Shimano and Penn but most skepticism comes from the magseal design.Magseal is a relatively new technology in a reel but is proving itself. The more stories I hear the more I want to give it a shot. It has a bearing line roller that is mag sealed which is something many have asked for from Daiwa. The air bail andp composite rotor makes the reel very responsive. And smooth? My reel is silky smoothI also have the Saltist MQ 6000. My understanding is that they are not the new and old saltist as they fill a separate price point and niche. Hopefully this reel isn't going away and I'd suggest picking one up especially if you find a good deal as they often have. I'm considering picking up another if found at the right price.

Arrived on time and in Great condition. Reel is super smooth and getting better with use. Casts extremely well and the drag is super smooth as well.My first Diawa reel was a BG 2500 and I LOVE IT, especially because of the price. I wanted to treat myself to a high end reel and was looking at Stratics and the Diawa Ballistic. Call me old school, but I still have a thing about a reel being made of metal, the Stratic Ci4 and the Ballistic are both composite materials and this is 2018 so I am sure they are strong, and I was really close to going with the Balistic over the Stratic mostly because of the size of the gears and drag washers in the Ballistic. Both are physically larger in the Ballistic than the Stratic.Then there is the bearing count, the Saltist has 9, Ballistic and Stratic have 7. At the particular time I was looking the Saltist was between $195 and $199 and the Balistic was anywhere from $10-20 more. I was in a total quandary as to which way to go.Then I got one of those emails from Amazon and the Saltist went down to $145.00. That made up my mind, in my head it seemed to me that from a construction standpoint that the Saltist should be more expensive, it is slightly heavier than the Ballistic, (less than a wrist watch difference), but has more bearings, and is aluminum, so I pulled the trigger and put the extra $50 into a better rod than I had planned on getting originally. Plus the rod matches the reel and it looks SWEET and fishes like a dream.

I have a 3000 saltist and LOVE IT! My husband was hinting about a 4000 so I picked this one up for a Christmas gift and gifted early so he can use this weekend! We love these reels. Super smooth feeling, great drag! Built very well! Will definitely buy more

Get these while you can !! The New models price increase is steep !I absolutely Love this Reel! The drag the smooth, winding is perfect.I compared this Head to head with Battle II. Somehow, with the same braid, same pole same, 2 lures this reel casted 10 more yards ??? Now I replaced my Battle II line with these.I can't say enough about these reels!

I've been using this for a few months, I've tried a variety of lines on it, and fished in both salt and freshwater. It feels good, I've caught plenty of fish using it, and all the adjustments work like they should. The heaviest fish I've taken on it is probably only 5 pounds though, so I can't comment on what its like if you're fishing up something heavier than that. I've had no trouble getting it to work with very light lines for finesse fishing either. Handle is ambidextrous and pretty straightforward to switch. I'd say for a beginning angler this is a great reel that lets you handle a pretty wide variety of fish.

Used this reel for two years in salt water with just a fresh water rinsing after use with no issues. I never opened it or greased the line roller. I dunked the reel in oncoming waves while beaching a 40 inch striper bass too.Edit: September 2021. I laid my rod and saltist reel on a warf. A seagull got caught on the line and hauled it in the water. It got dragged out in the middle somewhere. RIP saltist. Great reel before the seagull stole it. :(

Ich war auf der Suche nach einer 5000er Rolle. Nach dem ich diese gefunden und bestellt habe,gab es für mich eine große Überraschung. Diese Rolle spielt mit Sicherheit nicht in der Liga der 5000er mit. Eher eine 8000er, super solide verarbeitet. Zum Meeresfischen geeignet, z.B. für große Sailfish oder " kleinere" Thunfische geeignet. Da ich in absehbarer Zeit nicht zum Big Game komme, habe ich sie zurückgeschickt.Vieleicht noch fürs Wallerangeln geeignet, aber eigentlich zu schade dafür.
