Who knew?
Such a helpful book! Having lived in Kent for many years, I thought I knew most of its ins and outs - but this book has helped to uncover many many new layers of discovery. I now have a growing list of places, shops, gastro pubs, cafes, and walks I plan to check out, thanks to Simon Richmond's excellent research. There are some historical gems I had no idea about and found fascinating, such as Van Gogh's connection to Ramsgate. If anyone is planning on visiting Kent - or lives here- this resource will help you to uncover the special places that are not on the typical tourist map.

Full of surprises
I have lived in Kent for a long time and so am pleased to still find new places to visit, described in this book. Some of them hidden in places I thought I knew well. Simon Richmonds research is astonishing, thorough and detailed, and yet he manages to conjure up an inquisitive freshness whether he is describing history, wild life, flora and fauna, or food. The book is so practical too, listing places to eat and drink, with hours of opening and telephone numbers. He lists activities, tours, and even shopping. Its thorough. I've been lying on my bed reading this book with the sea breeze wafting through the window. I am now inspired to get up and explore!

Kent is fascinating
What a well researched book, so useful for residents and visitors alike. And so up to date. As a local I know the author hasn't just repeated the general myths that often abound, and he's made me want to explore further in my own county.
