Orion Craft 18-inch Wood Backgammon Set - Zebra Wood Board

I have no doubt that the brand is excellent quality. And I really want to love this item. But the item I received was obviously defective (game board has a warped and displeasing appearance) and would not have passed quality assurance. Or, it has a natural defect that diminishes its appearance in the wood on the actual game board which can't be removed. It's odd. My first thought was to return it. But I might keep it. Disappointed because the set is really beautiful otherwise. And I really like the Zebra Wood case, even though its a bit clunky.P.S.:The seller approved my returning the item. The seller has agreed to an exchange so I'm increasing the stars again. I look forward to exchanging it for one that doesn't have the defect.P.S.S.: Sadly, I reduced the the rating to one star again when I looked closely at the sellers response. According to the seller, I shouldn't buy a wooden backgammon board if I expect it to look like the picture. What't the point of the picture if the item doesn't look like it? Clearly, the picture has been modified to improve its appearance if the products don't look like it. Thus, there's no point to exchanging it if the next one will still have some sort of visual defect because its made of wood. I'm keeping this one as a reminder to be more careful about what I buy in the future. I'm just going to buy a different brand from another vendor in the future. And it will be made of wood without any defects.

I purchased this backgammon set to replace an older, much-loved set that had seen better days. I wanted a set with wooden pieces, not plastic or melamine (which chipped on the old set). The design on the interior is very nice and it's easy to discern the color variation of the bars. The only drawback is that the pieces slide around a lot (wood on wood vs. plastic on fabric). I'm temped to add some felt to the pieces, but that would make them too big to fit into the holding tray. No matter; a very nice set!

What an awesome gift. It's a beautiful game. Everything is wood and it handles well when played with. Outstanding

I love the fact that this is a wood board but it is a very soft wood and scratches easily. The hardware is good quality, dice are nice and large and the pieces are nice too. No problem with too much sliding-just scratching the surface. I do love the board but it seems too expensive for the level of quality.
