Cool KaftansJava Print Cotton Kaftan Caftan Dress One Plus Size

This is a beautiful caftan! I was looking for a loose fitting dress that also looked nice to wear on my trip to Haiti. With the temperatures in the mid 90's to low 100's, this dress proved to be very comfortable to wear. If I could change one thing, I would make the neck opening a little smaller. The first two times I wore it the neck felt wide and did slip off one shoulder. Since that is considered 'promiscuous behavior' in the area of Haiti that we went to, I 'fixed' it by hand stitching a dart on either side of the neck line. It looked like a short shoulder seam and took up one inch on either side of the neck. The neckline was still roomy enough to get the dress on and off easily, but it did not slide to one side or the other anymore. By the way, this dress does NOT shrink in the washer or dryer!

On the plus side, the fabric is very nice and the garment seems very well made. It is really large so be prepared for that. I am short and heavyset with a large bust and it is very big on me. I will need to get it shortened but since I am barely 5'0 I usually have to have things shortened. The quality is nicer than I expected at this price so it is worth it to have it taken in a little for me.

I first reviewed this caftan favorably. I have read through other reviews and disagree on several. Namely that it is thin material. Can see through. Not true. Not as pictured. The color is as pictured. However it is a basic woven cotton and does not drape. As I have worn it more I have update on my opinion. I like the color, quality, but the neckline is wide enough that it keeps falling off my shoulder. Annoying. It does not drape as a softer fabric would. As I walk around the back seems to suck onto my body and I am instantly pulling it loose.. And it is very wide. Laying it out flat 43" wide. If it draped this would be ok. But Then.. Worst thing. I had put bag of ice on leg injury, fell asleep briefly, and the condensation seeped thru fabric, stained my skin and Sofa Cushion with the blue dye. I am still trying to remove dye from my leg and fingers. Do not want to think about the cushions stained with blue dye. SO . I have my reservations about this caftan.

I have had the blue caftan since 2017 and it has held up so well I just bought 2 more. The color barely faded. I have been washing it in cold water with Charlie's soap. It's hard to tell how tall I am because of my back problems, 5'3" maybe. I wear a 1 x and this garment fits loosely. In the winter I wear a loose t shirt or turtleneck under it and it keeps me warm. During the hot humid dog days in the south east US it keeps me cool and dry.

Everything is right about this kaftan. Well made - fits perfect - coolAnd attractive.

nice fabric and design. a little big but easily remedied with a nip and tuck in the waist or a belt. no problem. great company consistentlly.

This is such a great kaftan I got a second one in another color. It's good quality material - not flimsy but not stiff. Washes well and is super comfy. I love to put this on at the end of a long, trying day or after an evening shower when I've been in the garden all day to just relax in.

I intend to wear this caftan over a bathing suit. It will be perfect. It's attractive and comfortable. I was concerned about the length since I'm only 5'1". The length is perfect.
