Good unit not 100% airtight
This is a good bit of kit, I bought it to fit in a relatives apartment complex between a permanently running fan and the common extraction ducting to stop cooking smells back feeding into his apartment. Although it made a massive improvement the shut off not being airtight (as I was aware when buying) still allowed some odour, (I thought it would be so little to be unnoticeable) I later found out the fan was miswired and had a trickle mode rather than on off which sorted the problem, but this non return valve was spot on other than the above consideration.

Flaps reduce air flow
Well made and strong, with a medium power fan the flaps hardly open, perhaps the springs should be reduced in strength a bit as the flaps greatly reduce air flow.

5 “(125mm) extractor fan vent
Slotted straight in to the hole in the wall of my house,I put some silicone around the edge to stop any draughts it looks good and does the job

Needs a good fan to work
My extractor does not produce enough pressure to open the flaps. I managed to bend the spring enough to get the flaps to open. Pity as it is well made.

Working well so far
It's only been installed for a couple of weeks but seems to be working well. It replaces a plastic flap that was hinged on one side and always banged noisily when there were high winds outside. This one has passed that test and seems to have reduced the backdrafts we were getting.

Perfect draft stopper. No more air blowing back inside my dryer so that means my house is now warmer
