Behind the Player: George Lynch

I bought this DVD for the jams, anticipating the performances and recording quality would be better than the countless relatively poor audience captures found in video sites on the web. The audio has extraordinary fidelity and dynamics. First rate production all around.It gets better. The performances of Mr. Scary and Tooth and Nail may be a couple of the best GL jams ever. It's really, truly that good. It's as if the producers asked George to blaze through Mr. Scary for all its worth and he threw everything he had at it, playing for spirit instead of instructional accuracy. With balls-out intensity there's slop, oopsies, and a couple of places where it very briefly kind of goes to crap, but all together making it that much cooler. It's my favorite, most crankable Mr. Scary. A real treasure for George Lynch fans.It's also a very good instructional video with a great segment with George talking about his history, influences, and gear. Look for the IMV DVD's trailer on the web. The last bit of it features some of the Mr. Scary jam.

Great vid. Got it more for the interview than the song lessons. That being said, if you haven't learned to play the songs on this DVD, then what better place to learn than from Mr. Scary himself.

I have been a Lynch fan since the early 80's always interested in what he is doing. You can always learn something from this guy he is a great metal guitar player Eddie Van Halen can't even measure up to Lynch .
