i got this as a gift and it looks very nice and sturdy and wvencomes with a splash guard to protect your recipe card. HOWEVER, when you look closer it starts to look cheap and poorly built. cracks in corners, wood chips flaking off and splintering, magnets look jammed in and are not flush with lid and so on. so it works and it looks good from far away let’s just hope it lasts.

Overall it's just okay. Sturdy but a few design flaws that make it less than optimal.Pros:1. It looks nice.2. I like the ability to display a card on top.3. Overall it seems sturdy.Cons:1. The box is exactly 6" on the inside. I had to trim down a few of my notecards to fit. It would be nice if there was a bit more wiggle room.2. The inside height does not give enough room for tabs/section dividers.3. There is no physical latch, just two small magnets. These work okay but if you pick the box up from the top is spills open.4. If you open the box while it's empty, it is too top heavy and tips over. Even with the notecards they provided in it, it is still a bit unbalanced.

This box is so nice. The wood is nice and smooth and a really nice color. The clear protector that comes with it is great to protect whichever card you're using while you're cooking. It also holds A LOT of cards. This box is roomy and weighty. I have well over 200 recipe cards in the box and that's not including my category dividers... and there's still some room. Not really a complaint but the protector isn't made for the standard recipe card. It sticks out on the sides a bit but I still think it would be fine to protect your card. I do have one slight complaint and it's that the lid has a tendency to just flop open when you're opening it. You have to be a bit careful top avoid the flopping. It's not that big of a deal but I feel that if it flops open one too many times, the bracket holding the lid on might just give up.

I didn't read the reviews.....big mistake. I ordered two of these boxes for Christmas as I was creating personal recipe boxes for grandchildren - got all cards printed and in their jackets only to discover the box doesn't exactly fit the cards- so I spent a good amount of time trimming over 300 cards. Would have returned them but it was crunch time. Such a needless task when it could have been avoided especially during a hectic Christmas count down! DO NOT BUY!

It was exactly what I wanted and at a good price. I love the groove on top that holds the recipe card in the acrylic holder(included).it came well packaged and the holder had a protective film so it wouldn't get scratches. It also has lil magnetic holders on the hinged lid. The included "recipe tabs" are just white index cards a bit taller than my cards but they can be seen above them so they are fine. It is plain but I am sure it can be decorated if you want.

Adorable recipe box that comes with a plastic piece in which you can slide your recipe card into and place ontop of box into little slot that allows you to prepare your recipe without getting the card messy! And the bamboo was a great surface to have painted upon for personalization as well!

I purchased this as a gift and was disappointed to find that the lid was crooked and a side seam was separated. I returned it for an exchange, and the replacement I received was also defective... this time one of the hinges attaching the lid was crooked. The lid "pops" when opened or closed. I really like the design. It's a shame that the quality just isn't there.

The box has a lot of space for the top tabs and love the acrylic holder and the magnetic closures. However all the plastic sleeves and cards I ordered had to be trimmed since the inside measurements will not hold a 4X6 card. Once I trimmed the tabs, cards, and plastic sleeves all works well.
