Excel FEK418 Black 18" x 2.15" 32 Hole Takasago Rim

This is specific to my experience with the compatibility of this rim to the XR600R stock hub with Excel XS9-11187 spokes.This rim is NOT compatible with the stock XR600R hub when using the recommended Excel XS9-11187 spokes. The angle of the holes in this rim is off and once you tighten down the spokes and true the rim all the spokes will have a bend in them. I ended up having to take my wheel to Woody's Wheel Works in Denver. They knew of the issue with the Excel Takasago XR incompatibility and redrilled my rim and installed stainless spoke nipples. The cheaper Excel Notako (avail here on Amazon) will be a direct replacement for 30% less cost. Amazon, Excel, Parts Unlimited etc. all list this rim as being compatible and it is NOT unless you use thinner gauge spokes or have the holes re-drilled.

Great price, easy to install. If buying for Honda XR250r, XR400r, or XR600r make sure to face wheel with sizing stamp toward sprocket side or you will experience bending of spokes when tightening as mentioned already here. Also there are two sizes of spokes for the Honda XR's, larger spoke goes on sprocket side shorter spoke goes on brake side...
