A must have manual!!!!
The official Windows 11 manual comes out March 22 and I have found this an excellent interim manual until then. It is easy to use and understand and is setup from basics to advanced operations. Well worth the money.

If you're a beginner you're really skunked!
New computer, so first thing I need to do is transfer files. NOPE! Not in index or TOC. Then try initial setup. NOPE! Not in index or TOC. The index is 3p with ~120 listings... not a lot of detail. Author interjects personal commentary on why MS did/didn't do a particular function. I don't care why, I just want a how-to book. I've been using MS since Win 3 and every upgrade requires ramp-up time. THIS BOOK DOESN'T HELP.

this is a very good book.
This book has sections for beginner, intermediate, and expert. The author has screenshots that accompany his text. Overall, this is an informative book. I rate this an outstanding value. Highly recommended.

Just glad I can use Windows 10 for a little longer. Not sure 11 will be better then 10 in long run.

Not what I expected, not that easy to understand, needed a much more basic journal

I purchased the original first edition of Martin Brinkmann's book entitled "Windows 11 From Beginner To Advanced" back in May, 2022 shortly after buying a new laptop and found it very useful to gain an insight into Microsoft's latest operating system. Prior to that I was using Windows 8.1 having avoided Windows 10 due to all the controversy surrounding it at that time. In that respect I used a third party app to prevent the automatic upgrade, but by skipping Windows 10, it had left me a bit in the dark regarding the difference between Window 8.1 and Windows 11. This third edition of the author's book has similarities to the first one but includes an updated index to differentiate it from the previous versions together with new aspects of the Windows operating system which weren't available before. Screenshot's in this version, although still only black & white are much clearer this time around due to the difference in the paper type employed for printing. The first edition pages had a slightly creamy appearance while the third edition are all pure white. That helps to make menu illustrations clearer although that might not be apparent in some cases. Also, in this third edition the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11 are dealt with in more detail. These were lacking in the first edition primarily because the hardware requirements were of lesser importance back then than they are now. There is also a section in the book which explains how to bypass compatibility checks and upgrade an earlier version of the Windows even though it doesn't actually qualify for the upgrade. Likewise, Cortana has been replaced by Windows Copilot a.k.a. AI (Artificial Intelligence) which, like its predecessor uses Microsoft's own Bing search engine to respond to users questions either verbally, or inwritten form. There are of course many websites around that deal with the pros and cons of the Windows 11 operating system, but speaking for myself, I prefer to have a printed copy available when needed.

Dull and unreadable. Could do with highlighting key features especially differences from Win 10.
