Dance with Julianne: Just Dance!

Great workout for someone with dance experience!
My favorite way to get my cardio is with dance videos. I thought this dance workout was particularly fun with a lot of sexy swaying moves that really work the core. It will also keep your heart pumping when you put your full energy into each move. Agree that there is not too much time spent on instruction which is a plus for me, as the moves are relatively easy to pick-up if you're familiar with dance, decreasing the boredom factor. It's like going to a party for an hour, but you're in the comfort of your home where you can dance with no inhibition. The more you do it, the better you get at it. Agree as the reviews say that it's too much for beginners but that's why I selected it. I always wonder why folks make negative comments like "I threw it in the trash" because it's simply for those at a more a more advanced level than they are. I also disagree that it's for someone "under 27". I'm 56 and appreciate the music and and Julianne's style. Her personality is bubbly and she is very motivating, "woohs" and all . I recommend dance shoes if you have carpeting. Bloch dance shoes are reasonably priced on Amazon. I will look to buy anything else Julianne puts out.

Great Workout, Good Dances for Beginners
I've purchased many other dance DVD's that end up being really corny with cheesy music. I've also attended Hip Hop style dance classes at my gym and always find myself confused, uncoordinated, and frustrated. This DVD is the first I've found that really works for me. There is a simple warm up, three different dance segments and a cool down. I love it! Julianne makes it fun, laughing and goofing off while trying to learn makes it so much less stressful. She also has a great section on the DVD that helps break down the moves. I found my self playing some parts on slow while learning, but it didn't take too long at all to pick them up. I would say it's a medium intensity workout that will get you sweating, but wont make you sore the next day.

Should've bought a Gym Membership Instead
My husband bought this for me for Christmas. I was so excited to use it that I instantly opened it and started the workout. This DVD is not bad, but it definitely is not great either. You can tell that Julianne is fun and excited to be there, but she seems very inexperienced in teaching through a DVD. I have danced for 22 years and so the moves weren't difficult, which I liked, but at the same time she doesn't cue you in and there isn't music that goes to it, it's more background music. I like music that gets me pumped up and excited to dance and it just wasn't there. I should've had my husband splurge and buy me a gym membership to Golds or 24 hour fitness so I could do a dance class there. The reason I wanted this is because I have a 1 year old and I wanted something I could do from home. I'll still work out to it because I love to workout, but it doesn't motivate me like I was hoping it would.

I prefer her Cardio Ballroom
I like this workout but I prefer her Cardio Ballroom. I sweat more in that one and feel like I got a better workout. I can see myself doing this one when I am a little tired or sluggish and I can't quite muster the energy to do something a little more challenging. I break a sweat but I'm not exactly huffing and puffing. I have been a fan of Julianne's since the beginning of DWTS and she is even more likable in her fitness DVDs. Her cueing isn't the best and I get thrown off sometimes because of it but its not a deal-breaker for me. If you're going to pick just one of her DVDs, get the Cardio Ballroom.

Great workout
I ordered this DVD after purchasing Juilanne's first DVD and loving it. This workout is broken up the same as Cardio Ballroom. The first 5-6 minutes is a warmup, followed by 10 minutes of a dance workout called work it, then 12 minutes or so of a dance workout called flaunt it, then 12 minutes or so of a dance workout called pump it, and last a 5 minute cooldown. Some of the steps are also broken down for you to learn in the seperate private dance lesson. I loved this workout because after I learned all of the steps, it is a really great workout. It works out your whole body. It's fun and challenging and I wish more workouts were like this one.

WAY TOO FAST!
I had such high hopes. I love to dance and have done Zumba as well as other dance DVD's. I love the moves, but she starts off teaching a move at a ridiculous FULL THROTTLE WARP SPEED, then adds another move, then another and it is WAY TOO FAST! There is no walking through the routine or moves slowly once or twice to integrate them into muscle memory--just a lot of warp speed jerking which was very unpleasant.I don't mind working up to full speed, but this was ridiculous! I was just left in frustration there watching Julianne dance. To top it off, the two women in the back who are supposed to be the modifiers are not modified at all. The bonus tutorial is useless because it only goes through four moves which is a very small fraction of what is on the DVD. The music, which is supposed to inspire you and get your heart beat pumping is almost non existent. All you can hear is Julianne's voice and constant "Who Hoo!". I'm all for being upbeat, but where's the music?!!!I was left with the feeling that this was just an exhibition opportunity, rather than a tape that was intended to help people learn to "Just Dance". This is not the way I have ever been taught for sure. I'm afraid, this one is going in the give away bin....

I started with Dance ballroom and loved it, I wanted more dancing time so I got this one which is different kind of workout than Juliannes dance ballroom. Took three days to get moves down with slow motion dvd control, then I was familiar with moves and what to expect next. Its all repetition. Similiar moves sometimes but both Dvd's work entire body. Muscles are sore everywhere, sweat like crazy, must drink lots of water and on days with no dance cardio do stretch yoga moves. It is necessary! Lots of fun, I like nonstop cardio, just start and go, no dilly dallying around. I would buy more of her workouts but she only has two so I have purchased Tracy Anderson's dance workout to throw in my mix.

Persistence Required. Great dvd!
If you're the type of person who is easily discouraged by hard choreography then this isn't the dvd for you. However if you enjoy dancing even though your not a trained dancer and you're willing to stick with it then I would recommend this dvd. I had to rewind countless times before I figured out some sections but that's what the rewind button was designed for. By the time I finished working out I was sweating, and ecstatic that I had finally mastered the "cross-over-booty smack-head-roll-flick." You'll know exactly what I'm talking about when you get the dvd.

Got this after cardio ballroom
Another great dance workout. She's got just the right personality that is cute, high energy and doesn't get annoying. She breaks the moves down well and adds it together progressively... it takes a few watches to get it but it's a great workout. Not the most strenuous but better still you feel like you're learning to move better.

Dance moves yes - fun well a bit!
She has moves that can injure someone who doesn't know that much about dance.I enjoy all types of dancing but found she was jerky in her moves and even though she presented an alternative dancer, she didn't show alternate moves. An example is the Bird move which can be done with arms not straight up but half way up or even a quarter way up. Steps can be done on the spot which get the heart rate up but again she didn't mention this.

Great Workout!
I already tried Julianne's Cardio Ballroom Workout which I found incredible so I decided to try also Just Dance. Compared to her first DVD I have to say that this one is not "beginner friendly" so, if you never tried to follow such a dance/funky coreography, it might be challenging. But it's only a matter of time: once you get the moves you'll have so much fun!

Low Impact - Not as much dancing as I was expecting
This is a good DVD if you are looking to dance and you are just starting out. It is low impact. It wasn't for me. Her voice was too much for me to handle. I was expecting high impact with music to distract me.
