Feel Good Stories about Heaven & God's help here on Earth
Very easy to read, the chapters are individual short stories collected in subject sub-chapters - Angels, N.D.E, Ghosts, Demons, etc - so you can finish 1 or a few in a go. It's got a God /Christian basis, I like that; I don't see how you can have an afterlife without a God/Jesus, but it's off-putting for some, who maybe associate God with the base human faults of religions; the sexism, bigotry, megalomania, hate. Things opposite of God.Set in America, & written in a quite a twee style, but that's OK on a cold, dark night. A few stories didn't feel convincing, eg; people claiming God spoke directly to them in voice, but maybe that really does happen to some people? It also makes me envious of those who do glimpse Heaven or experience angels on Earth, tho' maybe I already have without recognising them..Most of the narrative does ring true, & is quite moving, can bring a tear to the eye! I've had this book 5+ years now & I go back to re-read the accounts; they're still fresh, I find different things I missed before, & it totally cheers me up when I'm down.*I'd recommend it for anyone wanting some feel-good, maybe Faith-boost, comfort about a Divine presence with us during bereavement, stress, death, & the wonderful hope, promise, of reunion with friends & family, pets, in a true Heaven afterlife, Amen. :) x

Some tricky questions and lots to ponder
This is one powerful book, wether you agree with James or not and I have to say I do you will have lots of questions. Are all your questions going to be answered? When have they ever but this book has helped me see what the questions are and that is the first step I guess to finding what im looking for. Some subjects are just so big I believe in the afterlife as the Bible teaches but there is more so much more to it than that and in this book James takes the time to look at many if not all the angles (which is probably impossible) and gives you a good overview so you can look and investigate or question the subject more informed. He doesn't tell you what to believe but what the various options are and adds scriptures where it helps. I really do recommend this book to anyone who has questions of the afterlife and about Heaven and Hell. It's out theatre somewhere to rob a quote.

A thought provoking read
This is one book I really didn't want to put down. It consists in the main of a variety of fascinating and supposedly true accounts of NDEs (Near Death Experiences), which if they are true, provide proof of the afterlife beyond any doubt. Although as it was compiled by two devout Christians, one a church minister, it does talk about God and The Bible a lot, - maybe a lot more than some people would be comfortable with. However, life after death and religion go hand in hand to my mind, so I didn't find it too much. The many different accounts of NDEs - involving trips to both Heaven and Hell, make this an essential -and amazing at times -read to anyone who has ever questioned the finality of death.Highly recommended.

Well worth reading
This book is a thoughtful look at Near Death Experiences, Heaven, and Hell. Brilliantly written and thought provoking. If you ever wondered what Heaven and He'll might look like read this BUT this is his opinion. You must look and decide for yourself, too

Great inspirational read
I found this a great read. I am naturally very skeptical, so I read the stories with a pinch of salt, but I still found inspiration in them all and was very entertained. I like that the book just presents the stories as they are, and doesn't try to defend or scrutinise them. It leaves them up to the reader to make of them what they will, and I am sure many of them are genuine encounters with the divine.

still skeptical
Got about halfway through, now its starting to use the bible for proof of the hereafter, I feel the first part interesting, now its into bible quotes, though of course afterall religion plays the major role?, lets hope its all true, it seems to be using religion to make up the rest of the book.

Great book!
This book explores the views of all faiths and creeds and puts them under the Biblical microscope. Reincarnation, annihilation, oblivion and eternity are explored honestly and openly. None of this prepares the reader for the final part which we found extremely moving and exciting because we know we are bound for eternity with God. It would be very challenging if we didn't.

thought provoking
Being a doctor, I am naturally skeptical about these experiences. On the other hand, being a Christian as well, I do appreciate and accepted the spiritual reality. Certainly in my practice, I have experienced many supernatural cases.
