Family Celebrations with the Cake Boss: Recipes for Get-Togethers Throughout the Year

I have the original Cake Boss book, and my daughter and I have baked several cakes to rave reviews. And I enjoyed his conversational style of writing, so was excited to learn he had written another (actually two more.). Looked at it in a bookstore prior to buying thru Amazon. Now, mind you, I have only made one recipe so far, the oatmeal apple cookies, but they turned out awful! Recipe called for 1 1/2 cups of butter, which is THREE sticks of butter. Thought that was a lot, but hey, I'll trust him. Wrong. The cookies spread out in the pan and the butter was visibly melting out of the cookies. This first batch made 6 cookies. Total 12 cookies in all. Given that mess, I refrigerated the cookie dough for an hour, then made 6 more, and they came out the same. Now they did taste good, but was not something I would have wanted to take somewhere. I give it a 5 star for the read, but only 3 star for this recipe.

This is one Buddy Valastro cookbook that hasn't been complicated.Each recipe from various celebratory days (shoot these recipes can be done anytime!!) are easy and beautiful.I have ideas to make for taking to Thanksgiving and Christmas--either sweet or savory.Each, again, are doable, maybe with some exceptions with the typical Valastro cakes, but it's a beautiful cookbook and a usable cookbook and you cannot ask for simple and delicious.Now this is a cookbook that Buddy Valastro can be proud of.Definitely a must for us everyday cooks who want to do something special!Ellen George, author of children's book, Flutterby, and upcoming book of fiction.Also Amazon reviewer.

I get my (adult) children cookbooks as part of their Christmas presents each year. This was my pick this year. It is a nice book, nice photography, a scattering of short introductions of the food and memories throughout the book, but not enough to make it obnoxious, and a lot of very interesting, real-people recipes that don't use odd ingredients. I'm kind of sorry I didn't get one for myself ... maybe after the holidays ...

My second copy-- gave one as a gift to my brother, we are italian and like to hear Buddy's stories about his family.

I think the Cake Boss oughta do cakes of every kind, all the time. This book has a good variety of all kinds of things suitable for any gathering of any kind, without too much fuss!

The cake boss always has great ideas and this book is full of good ideas. I purchased two to give as gifts. I know I would love this book as a gift from one of my friends.

Great recipes to cook as a family. I got it for my daughter who is obsessed with "Cake Boss." Variety of recipes to make for many occasions. Great pictures.

Purchased for 12 year old budding chef and he is definitely enjoying it. He has only made a few of the recipes since it was a Christmas gift.

Bought this for my son-in-law and he loved it. Big bonus he brings me delicious treats , so no complaints from me.
