Practical Fishing Knots

If you fish, particularly fly fishing which requires so many different knots, you must read this book. This is THE book of knots. I have a couple copies and I refer back to them all the time and now have given several copies to family members and friends who get the fly fishing bug. I tell them if they are going to pick up the sport, they must read this. I particularly appreciate the tip in the book that you can't remember all the knots but you should memorize three or four knots so you can go to them in most any situation. That's been my experience and it's a recommendation that has stood me well over the years. If you don't have this book, you should.

Bought this after losing a prior copy.Been fishing for decades and still refer to this from time to time when developing different rigs.The most critical thing this book has is guidance for why you would pick specific knots. You may use the same knot 95% of the time, but you can really extend your useful fishing techniques or quarry and save yourself a lot of lost lures.

This book is the best book on fly tying knots that I have encountered. The section at the end on leaders is particularly helpful in demystifying this subject. It is the only book that you will need on rigging for fly fishing (and other types of fishing, I suspect).

I enjoy this book. It is well written and generally well illustrated. The book would have been improved by a more careful edit before publication. There seem to be a few illustrations that are misplaced or mis-labeled. Still, I have been able to master a variety of knots that I now use regularly.

This was easy to follow with good illustrations. I found out that a knot I have been tying for 40 years was wrong and was able to change what I was doing to add in the missed step. I also picked up a few additional knots. Fits great in the tackle box as well.

Great book, great instructions, but a spiral bound version would be so much easier to use.This book has a very stiff spine and is small. Very hard to hold open without blocking half the steps.

This is a great Book for any Fisherman! I'm a fourth generation commercial fisherman and a dedicated sports fisherman; did I learn any new knots? Just one! But it brought back memories of old ones I had forgot. If you would like learning the proper way to tie knots? Yes I recommend this Book. The Images are satisfactory but need work.

Needed to refresh my memory and retrain my fingers on the process of tying knots. would refer to all interested in knots.
