A Steel Eagle designed like an angry Beagle! What a ridiculous & crappy sheath too!
Retails for $280? Whatever! Don't buy at 280; instead do a 180 & invest in another brand or design. 1095 is a good steel but not worthy of 280 or even at a 180 expense. Especially with such a terrible sheath.Overpriced & overhyped! I'm going to be brutally honest about this product. I wanted this beast of a knife as a whole. The handle is too small, the sheath is just terrible and why should anyone buy a product that sells for almost 300 with issues that you have to accept as; it is what it is?!!?Pro's: sharp out of the plastic (because for the price you just get a plastic sleeve from Tops???).. Its a beautiful & awesome looking knife. This beast is heavy but in a good way.So- for a novice who just wants to look at it, or to just keep as a collection piece or to just compensate for something- then it is 4 Stars! But for serious & intended use; it's barely one star!Con's: beautiful scales but it's way too slippery. The Handle: this handle must've been designed & given final approval by someone with small hands! The blade is forward heavy & it should be! But the handle is way too small with a slippery scale! So if you have tiny man hands; then you could grip with confidence & consider it 4 stars.. Wearing with tactical gloves while gripping this thing is far worse in regard to the tiny man handle length of this product & tool. It seriously needs, requires another inch & a quarter in length to be ideal for any person; male or female, real man hands or small man hands. If you wear a Large or XL gloves- you'll find this too short of a handle length annoying & could be a detriment during field operations. The Sheath: ballistic nylon, really? More like unrealistic use of nylon. This knife should have been offered with a Kydex sheath or a better nylon sheath! The Velcro is really dumb, unreliable & you would lose your expensive small man hands handle of a knife! The ridiculous velcro strap & belt loop area is Floppy & unprofessional! There are those recommending that one should replace the sheath because it's garbage. Why should someone or any consumer have to spend an additional expense in having to replace the sheath on a new purchase? A kydex sheath- if you can find one would be close to another 100 bucks & another nylon sheath option would be 50+ dollars..It's really just 1095 steel; good but not great when you consider the cost of this knife. The handle is too small & the jimping; if you were to utilize, makes the handle that much smaller to comfortably hold such a heavy blade. The sheath & velco: cheap, ridiculous, unreliable & just sad for a brand that is hyped!

Pros and cons
It has pros and cons like anything else I guess. I bought it because I thought it just looked obnoxiously big, it's not. It's a little bit awkward because it seems to me the handle needs to be bigger. I'm not sure there's much about the handle I like at all. If you were to use the pommel to strike something more than a couple times I think the grip on the top would really make your hand sore. Now for the blade, I love it. The sharpening of the top of the blade is awesome. The size and weight are very manageable and anyone at the other end of it would find themselves in serious trouble. If only the handle was more like Hawkes Hellion or even the Tac 7 you'd have a better product.

Great knife.
This thing is big and it is heavy. As it should be. I haven't used it yet but I am confident it will do what ever I need it to do. Split wood, cut down small trees, kill bears or pigs, clean my teeth, intimidate people bigger and stronger than me. I'm sure you get my drift. TOPS knives are working knives and I will work with this one.

Excellent all around.
An excellent knife with a way above average sheath. The handles are perfect for chopping and the saw back is actually functional.

a really nice knife that was useful there
Despite it being stolen a few days ago, I just came back from a month using this in a Honduran rainforest. Generally, a really nice knife that was useful there. For the details..... I agree with another reviewer that the handle feels smaller than it should. My palm took up the entire space so I would like a bit more for leverage. The grip is slippery as I often worked outside in rain storms and needed better grip. The only other issue seemed to be soft metal.... I used a rock to hit the hilt and it easily smoothed out, wiped off the black color, and warped the metal. With that said, the blade itself stayed sharp, sharpened easily, and tore through vines/wood with general ease. The weight is solid and helpful. Yes, this chops down trees, and it's this reason I wanted a longer handle as it could slip out of my hands. The sheath is nice, but the top velcro loop couldn't stand up to a month of use - it was decimated by the time I was done (it's far too short). In short, I would still recommend this.
