Adult Review
I accidentally downloaded this and read it in a sitting. It was unusual.... aliens living among humans. Relatively clean... I would allow my teenager to read it. No sex but thoughts of it and some making out. This had a very Twilight feel. Same age, same story....new girl moves to down and there are strange people around who are... u guessed it gorgeous and unusual. Surprise ending at least for me...

Teeny bopper romance
It's left my inner teenage heart wanting more. Brought back twilight vibes. Very captivating, left me wanting more. So far everything from this author I've loved.

Take a seat and enjoy
Shadows is such a unique and entertaining story. Would you believe me if I told you a book about Alien love could be so exciting, whelp it sure can! Many have questioned reading the Lux series due to involving aliens but I'd highly recommend taking the next step and giving it a try! I think you would be quit surprised!Shadows gives you the story about Dawson and Bethany who find themselves falling in love with each other while trying to hide Dawson's secret. Danger lurks around every corner that soon catches up to them. By the ending of the book you will be engrossed in the story that you will need to quickly pick up Obsidian to find out what comes next!I'm thankful I read Shadows before reading Obsidian. It helped me understand Damien (Dawsons brother)and the Lux family for actions they make in the next book. You could without a doubt read Obsidian first but I would recommend reading Shadows first.

Shadows
• 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 •𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: Shadows𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Lux #0.5𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿: Jennifer L. Armentrout𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆☆ 5/5There is a different opinions on when this prequel novella should be read during the Lux Series. A lot of people feel like it should be read after Obsidian since it might be spoilery, however, I have to disagree. I started my reread with Shadows and for me it worked. It was nice to have a backstory regarding what happened with Dawson and Bethany. It also gives you a better understanding of Daemon’s actions in Obsidian. That said, there no reading order that works for everyone, so you should see what works for you! I’ve read this series more than 6 years ago as a teenager, and even now as an adult I still love it just as much. The writing of this novella is different than the others in the series since it is just a short novella, but it worked for me. I really loved Dawson and Bethany’s love story and the rest of the series only gets better from here!

Great start to this series.
Great start to this series! Well-written with well-developed characters. Great storyline. Can't wait for the next installment. Definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.

Hook, line, sinker
Just like that I was drawn into the world of Lux. I read this in a single sitting as stopping felt impossible. It gave me so many questions and had me thinking up many theories. I was immediately racing to get my hands on the next one.

Prequil
It was ok. I know it is a prequil and I'm just starting it so I haven't had a chance to get sucked into the story or characters. It just didn't leave me wishing for more. Hopefully now that I'm starting the main books the story will pick up and grab my attention better.

Meh...
3.5 starsI enjoyed this book, and its concept. There were very few typos, so that was a plus. I almost gave it 4 stars, however I have two major issues with this book that knocked it down a bit.1. At times the book went too fast, and seemed to skip through time. One of my pet peeves with any story is when the author does too much "telling" and not enough illustrating with his/her words. This book tended to do this at times. The story ends up becoming impersonal, and falls flat. This book was great in places, but this "issue" occurred too often for my liking. This being said, I guess because of the parts where the author DID illustrate the connection between the characters and the characters themselves, I still ended up feeling for the characters and their problems.2. I wanted to know more about what happened between Bethany and Dawson. After the ending, I was disappointed that Dawson did not confide in his siblings so they could help him figure it out. I thought this could have been a really interesting point for plot development, but it was just dropped -- which left things feeling unfinished. I am aware that this was a prequel to the first book, and I am hoping that because I read this one first (instead of starting with 1), some of these problems will be resolved in the later books. Too much was built up in this book for the author to not address these things later.UPDATE: something else that has been bothering me... what happened to Beth's family? I've started book 1, but haven't seen any hints that there will be a resolution to these unanswered questions. Hoping I'm wrong! *fingers crossed!*

Great prequel book
This book really was a rollercoaster of emotions. I really wasn’t expecting it to go the way it did. I'm so happy I read this book before the main series and went in blind it was such a fun experience. I really enjoyed Beth and Dawsons' relationship building and it was an enjoyable read. It gave a good oversight into the world building and the lux.
