Still waiting on replacement parts - update got em!
I can finally update this one. I’m increasing review to 5 stars with details to follow. They have very polite customer service members. They are slow. And apologized each time for the delay. I can’t put that all on them because honestly I just expected them to ignore the request and never respond. So pleasantly surprised. They actually responded to my follow up email. It was confusing and I thought they were sending me a label to return it. And then the next time I emailed back because they forgot or it slipped out before they sealed the package the little tiny dowels. So I had to wait another week for it. Both times the packing was superb. Guys. It blew my mind. They took care of it like they were sending it to grandma. This time I waited to get a 2nd pair of hands to help hold it steady for assembly. It’s solid. It’s sturdy. And I’m very pleased with the end result. Between the excellent service and the care taken in mailing the replacement items without making me even pay s&h? Full stars. I forgot to add pics after assembly so just showing on its planned home (another shelf). The backing piece unfolds and held together with tape tape when unfolded. I added extra tape along with the middle to help for long term. And I colored over the small gap with black permanent marker to avoid the light coming through being obvious. That is something I’ve learned over previous years of diy. It's been just over 2 weeks since this was delivered. I started assembly the weekend it was delivered. As part of the instructions, you assemble the various items in a specific order. I've include a closeup of Step 1 & 2 where you have the middle part of this bookshelf (the "H").The steps aren't complicated, but they could use more details. The line in the "H", requires 4 wooden dowels to be connected, and those in turn to be connected to the end pieces. I cannot stress how delicate they are until its all stable. Well, at least I assume it will be stable. I'm still waiting on the replacement parts. While connecting the 2 outer edges to the dowels, the wobble factor was under anticipated. I'm embarrassed to admit that the dowels broke instantly when the 2nd one was attached, and I'd let go of the other side. Picture the attempt - trying to save one side, and the other side also becomes precariously balanced, and end up both becoming unstable.I was able to remove 2 of the broken dowels, and I might have been able to salvage the part "G", but the other side, the 2 holes are completely filled. I don't have a drill, and even if I did, I'd need the 4 replacement dowels.I'd have paid extra to have it delivered fully assembled -- why isn't that even an option?Anyhow - if you end up like me just needing something on the smaller side to help corral some desktop clutter, the feel of the parts is well cheap, but I'd think they'd be stable enough for the weight specified. The all black will hide a variety of sins. I even bought screw covers after reading in the reviews that would have been a nice touch to make it look nicer. The cons:--Pet peeve, always the directions are really light on details. And why do you have so many items to do in each step, instead of separate steps?--Well, Amazon directed me to the website product support of the manufacturer. It wasn't too difficult to fill out the lengthy questionnaire. Just be prepared, I recommend if you're on your phone, switch over to pc or laptop.--Timeframe for responses - took a week for them to respond, asking for more photos. I responded today, so guessing it will be another week for them to respond, either with another question, or a request to pay for the shipping & addtl parts.--Length of time waiting - I'm this close to throwing it all out. Waiting so long for this to be resolved is annoying. Do I salvage my time, and wait, or do I throw it out now, and buy something else for the more instant gratification? $40.00 isn't a deal breaker, but still, in this economy? You don't want to just throw it away no matter the irritation. The Pros:--The price is fine. I'd have paid more for it fully assembled. Why isn't this an option? that ANYone offers?--Items are lightweight, and as described. The material is pressed wood, so it does 'feel' cheaper when you look at it.--While I did complain about the instructions, these are better than many I've seen, in that the size of the photos could be easily viewed.--Each of the items were clearly labeled - this is something that is often missed, so kudos to the manufacturer - very neat and organized.SummaryWell, this is one of those that I have to wait & update. If there isn't too much more of a delay, and the parts are replaced with only cheap fees, then I'll likely be happy and upgrade the review. For now, I'm on the fence with rating. Part of this is on me (I didn't fully understand the directions, and when it started to fall apart, overreacted when fumbling to save it, and items broke). Why can 't I go with half stars?

Budget friendly shelving
I needed some slim shelves to store purses on behind the clothing hanging in my closet. These were on sale at half price and fit my closet and budget perfectly. They are not super stable, but are moreso than I was given to believe when reading other reviews. If I was storing or displaying heavier items in a high traffic area, the included wall strap would certainly have been necessary. They look about like what you would expect for pressboard shelves. This isn’t heirloom furniture, but they look decent and get the job done. They were packed well, so no scratches or dings. The label stickers also came off easily without marring the finish like others had trouble with. I do really like the espresso color. It’s a nice dark black-brown. Also, some pressboard has a terrible chemical smell, but it wasn’t really noticeable on these. So yay!Putting it together took about 45 minutes and was relatively easy, even without help. Instructions were clear and concise. Pictures were labeled and helpful. The hardest part was screwing in the baseboard to the bottom shelf. The holes were marked, but not pre-drilled so it took me a while to screw them in with a screwdriver. My hand strength is pretty bad though. I think it took me 20 minutes just to do that step while keeping the boards lined up. Everything else was easy peasy (despite my cat doing her best to “help”). All boards, holes, and screws lined up perfectly. Honestly, the only time I felt I needed a second person was when I toted the finished shelves up the stairs.

Easy Setup, Decent Quality for the Money
If you have setup a cheap bookshelf before, this should be easy. I opened and built the bookshelf in less than 30 minutes. All the normal rules for building cheap MDF furniture apply. Do not overtighten. Do not apply any pressure to planks until the back is on.Quality was fine for my application. One shelf was scuffed, but since it will have books on it, it didn't really matter to me. 1 star deduction due to that. The bookshelf is thin depth wise. I would highly recommend using the mounting brackets to secure it to a wall.

Not Structurally Sound, requires nailing into wall
I purchased this product for my apartment after another bookshelf I had collapsed. It's got a good height, unfortunately, the shelves are not adjustable but I had no expectation of that based on the product description, but still figured I should mention it.Putting it together wasn't too hard, I think it took me and my friend about 30 minutes to do so, but be aware you need to have your own screwdriver to do so, as no tool is provided. The product is very unsteady, and the last instruction is to screw it into the wall using some supports they provide (which requires a drill that I don't have). This was a serious problem for me as someone renting an apartment, so I can't drill into the wall, and this step is apparently crucial, as not doing so has left the bookshelf wobbly. It also defeats the purpose of it being "free standing," because clearly it isn't if it has to be drilled into the wall to work well. It has a noticeable lean to it, and I've done my best to keep the heaviest books on the bottom to add some safety but I would not purchase this again, especially as someone with cats that like to jump on the shelves, as I am concerned that that much agitation could send it to the ground. The material it's made of (plywood) is cheap and not very strong, but that's to be expected from a bookshelf of this cost, and didn't upset me.

Decent shelves, lacking instructions
Ordered two of these for my bedroom, shelves are ok but only 1 of the 2 shelves contained build instructions. Not all holes are pre-drilled leaving you screwing into bare wood and praying everything lines up at times (I installed part of one shelf incorrectly and had to redo it). I’d also recommend making sure you have these against a wall since they’re pretty light weight and can be easily knocked over. Pretty solid 3.5/5 - they’ll work, and they look nice once built.
