Overall..........awesome!!!!
Reading this as a sober curious person was a really eye opening experience. In this book, the author starts out by painting a picture of what I means to consider life without alcohol. She acknowledges all the challenges from social to psychological to physical that one can face during this transformation. I love the detailed holistic approach that this book takes in explaining things.Karolina takes you on a journey with her in exploring the world as we know it WITHOUT booze. She describes the journey highlighting the highs and lows in this beautifully written book. Her style of writing is informative and interwoven with a very personal touch. You feel as though you are in the presence of a good friend almost immediately. The journaling homework in the book is incredible. I found it to be a great way to encourage readers to be truly invested in this 8 week plan to become a happier and healthy person. There are little tips and tricks to help readers succeed placed all throughout the reading. One of my favorites is the section on the huge variety of hip new non-alcoholic beverages. I had no idea! This is a must read for anyone interested in making this positive change in their lives. I highly recommend reading!

Literally life-changing
Karolina’s approach to ditching alcohol worked so well for me! This book reads as if a friend is talking to me. We’re having a deep conversation about what serves us and what doesn’t. She also goes in depth about the physical, biological health effects of alcohol and what happens to our bodies and minds when we quit. That was my favorite part because it really motivated me to get healthier. I also absolutely love the 8-week plan. It’s done with such thought and care and journaling was absolutely vital for my journey. You won’t regret picking up this book!

Inspiring, but may be aimed at a younger audience.
I should mention I haven’t finished the book yet (because I am reading dozens of others too) but I am really enjoying it and have found the resources in it truly helpful. As with many things, I think the target market is younger millennial and I am borderline Gen X, so I had to adjust to the tone a little although it is well written.I also find this relatively recent concept of sober curious inspiring since the old model doesn’t serve everyone. Some of us just need to step back and learn how to deal with everyday stress without resorting to a few glasses of wine every night as a coping mechanism and crutch. It’s easier to do that when you think of it as a choice, and that you might get to eventually indulge every now and then after you have detoxed your system and altered your mindset a bit. This book was written for those of us who fit that description and I really appreciate the thought that went into it. The author does remind us that some of us might need professional help with this process if an alcohol addiction is present. I admit I was borderline in this regard too (especially with pandemic era drinking) but it seems to be working for me.I also learned about a very useful British App called TryDry in the book, and I have been using it daily ever since- so there are many good resources contained within. 🙂

Useful Information
This book offers an interesting perspective on living alcohol-free, as well as an 8-week plan to quit (if you're so inclined). I liked that research was included to back up the author's claims; I didn't like the core (implied) assumption that the author's experiences with over-drinking apply to everyone. Advice from personal anecdotes, therefore, is only useful to those who habitually drink far too much, but the perspective that many Americans do this an accept it as normal gave me something to think about. I do not drink, so I did not read this as a self-help guide--just to hear the perspective and better understand people who do but wish that they didn't. I do think it offers good motivation for anyone who wants to quit, not start again, or not start at all.
