short, helpful, and biblical
Like other books written by Brian Croft, this book is short, helpful, and biblical. Croft directly and clearly makes his points, illustrating them from real-life scenarios. While this book aims at "revitalization," I believe it has greater application to all churches. Think of this book as a "prescription for improving church health." Your church does not have to be "dying;" it might just be stagnant. This was a really helpful book and I would recommend it as a FIRST book to read on the subject.

Thankful for this work
Having read many books on church revitalization, Brian Croft looks at this work from a biblical perspective and lays out succinctly what revitalization is and how it's done. He then addresses the biblical role of pastor and how each aspect plays a part in revitalization. He then draws from a life of pastoral ministry, most recently in revitalization to show the realities that await a pastor in a revitalization. This is a book that I will refer to over and over again as it grounds me in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how first and foremost the pastor must know that he is in need of Jesus just as much as his congregation. That will change a pastor. That will change a church.Use this book. Draw from it frequently and share it with those around desiring to be in pastoral ministry. Having been privileged to know Brian, it was one thing to read great content, it's another to know the character of the man who wrote it. I wholeheartedly would recommend this work, for its content, but also for the character of the writer.

Most encouraging book I've ever read as a pastor, other than the Bible!
Ever get tired of all the voices telling you what you can't do? Feeling like there's no hope for your church? Ready to give up and try something else?Read this book first!Pastor, there's hope. God does big things with small beginnings. God can use one man to defeat an army of God's enemies. God can help your church turn around. Find practical advice from someone who knows what he's talking about. It's not all theory. It's real, and it's truth.Read this book.

Helpful primer for bringing life to dying churches
Brian Croft has written an important work for pastors heading into the ministry in general, and into dying churches in particular. He provides guidance on all the fundamental requirements and foundation blocks in ensuring that the roots of the church are re-established and strengthened. But he goes further in this book to outline a number of practical examples and life lessons from his own experiences in church revitalization. In a certain sense the examples that he gives are eye-opening. One wonders how members of the body of Christ can conduct themselves in such manner. But Croft shows much grace and gives biblical wisdom in dealing with these situations. All in all I found this to be a very helpful resource, and I look forward to the opportunity of putting the principles into practice, by the grace of God.

Thought provoking writing
This was both practical and biblical, personal and objective. I felt that the author was at his best when sharing about his own weaknesses and sins. It turned upside down the confident image that leaders and writers often portray. Recommended.

Excellent
Very practical and very biblical. Encouraging to hear from pastor(s) who have been through it and come out the other side still standing on the Gospel promises.

An Encouraging and Challenging Book
In my view Parts I and II of the book serve as an introduction to Crofts personal story of his church revitalisation. He reflects with wisdom and empathy. I am a revitalising pastor who connected with Crofts experience and who takes away some useful lessons. This book should be read alongside other books on church revitalisation such those by Bill Henard, Thom Rainer and Harry Reeder.
