High Quality..... BUT
I purchased the 170mm scale to replace a Jenix scale which failed, on the Z axis of my Bridgeport milling machine. When I received the scale it did not come in the factory packaging (yes, I watched the unboxing video kindly provided by YH SINO, and you should too). The unit came with all the parts loose in a plastic bag, and the bag was inside an Amazon box that was 3 or 4 times too large with some air pillows for padding. The air pillows did nothing to prevent the parts in the bag from sliding around in the huge Amazon box. This kind of packaging is clearly not adequate to protect a fragile, precision instrument such as this. Obviously, I was immediately concerned before even opening the parts bag. I removed the parts from the bag and found several parts were missing. It was also easy to see that the unit had been previously used and installed because the mounting bracket was clearly marred by the mounting screws. I plugged it into my DRO but it did not work, so I suspected it was damaged in shipping. I was sure the DB-9 connector was the correct match for my DRO because the pinout is given in the questions and answers section. Being curious I removed the cover from the DB-9 connector and I saw that the previous buyer had re-soldered the connector and botched the job, one of the wires was not even soldered and just floating loose. Even if the unit I received had not been damaged by poor packaging, it was ruined by the first buyer even before it was returned to Amazon (I hope you nail this guy for the cost of the damaged unit). One of the reasons I'm a loyal, repeat Amazon customer is because of their outstanding return policy. But I have to ask Amazon and YH SINO this question: How did I receive this unit that was poorly packaged, had missing parts, and had been previously installed by another buyer, who had re-soldered the connector and damaged the unit?I have always assumed that if an Item is returned to Amazon that it is immediately returned to the seller or manufacturer who then can verify that the item is packaged properly, has all the required parts, and is tested to insure it meets the original factory quality control standards (assuming YH SINO has such standards). In this case I have to blame the seller YH SINO (hence the 3 stars) because clearly Amazon is not qualified to make this kind of judgement call on returns especially for a fragile, precision measuring instrument such as this.So do I recommend that you purchase one of these scales from YH SINO? ABSOULUTLY. Why? Well I asked for and received the replacement scale from Amazon, and it came well packaged in the original factory packaging. Before installing it I plugged the unit into my DRO to see if it would work. It did work, so I installed it on my Bridgeport mill and it has worked flawlessly ever since (I can't speak to the long term yet). The scale appears to be of very high quality manufacturing, it is accurate, and the mounting hardware is excellent quality with extra screws and a DB-9 gender bender if you need it. Last but not least the best reason to purchase it is because you are protected by Amazon's great 30 day return policy, so there is no risk. YH SINO, you need to tighten up your inspection of returned items because your quality products and customers deserve better.

Worked on my Precision Matthews PM-1022V Lathe
The DRO X-scale on my PM-1022V lathe crapped out. I called PM and they wanted $125 for the part and $49 to ship it. This 520mm unit was only $56 so I decided to try it. It came quickly. The first thing I did was plug it in to make sure it was compatible with the PM display, which it was.I like the way the head (sliding part of the scale) slides on the body. It fits firmly and squarely on the body, not like the PM unit, which was quite sloppy.Since the mounting was different from the original unit, I had to make some blocks, shims etc. to fit it in the spot where the old one was. I discarded the cover from this unit and re-used the cover that came on the lathe. As a previous reviewer mentioned, mounting is an issue with all scales -- they have to be parallel with the carriage cross slide. I was able to get it within about .010" from end to end, front/back and up/down.Wasn't sure if this was good enough, so I fabricated a double ball link to connect the carriage to the scale head. I used two ball and socket pen holders (remember the chained up pens in the bank?). I took the pen holders apart to get to the ball and socket, mounted them back-to-back and used that to connect the carriage to the DRO scale.Too early to tell how long the unit will last, but so far, I'm pleased with the result.

More than happy with the scales

Bear to get adjusted but once adjusted, very accurate!!
I bought this scale as a replacement for the scale on my lathe. The scale is very nicely built and has a nice backing plate. The scale is also much slimmer than the original. The bad: It does not tolerate misalignment at all! I tried using milled blocks to precisely align the scale but in the end I had to anneal an aluminum bracket and bend in 2-3° to align the read head. Also, the kit doesn't come with all the mounting hardware that other scales I have purchased. The great: This is a very well made scale that is very repeatable. I am very please to have my cuts coming out right after struggling with my previous scale. The build quality is very high. It comes with a very nice integrated shield. The alignment problem isn't unique to this scale, they all have the same problem. When I checked my old scale it was still repeatable and appeared to be accurate when removed from the lathe. But, due to my earlier misalignment, it was skipping counts and performing poorly. Lesson learned.I am very glad I purchased this scale as now my ELS and DRO match reading for the first time ever!

Smaller footprint for smaller machines
This scale has been working flawlessly ever since being installed on my RF31 X-axis. The smaller size allows it to tuck away and not be intrusive. I ordered a typical size glass scale for the Y-axis but quickly realized that I should have ordered another one of these smaller series scales. I will definitely order another one of these for the Z-axis.This is the same series scale that I have been using for years on my lathe cross slide and it's never even had a hiccup.Works directly with my Ditron D80 DRO, no pin rewiring needed, its plug and play. This scale only comes with the one aluminum bracket to mount the read head on a flat surface(as shown in my first pic). It doesn't have the different multiple aluminum mounts that some other scales ship with. If you're looking to buy this, I doubt you will have trouble finding or making a secure mount for it anyways.Well worth the money and I will buy another.
