Wish I would of had these in my tool box long time ago. They're easy to use and sharpen. The refills are in a container that slides open and close. BIG++ in my opinion. They don't mark (trace) on all types of iron as I thought they would and that might not be doable for those working in iron. The Yellow Marker does not show up well on Pine Boards as one might think. However, on darker color wood the marking is well visible. The marking set I got was Black, Red and Yellow. the refills are 6ea in color. Total length is 4-3/4 inches if anyone wants to know that one. In all in all - highly recommended marker.

Redaction and reassessment: The pencil with the thin barrel and self contained sharpener is a really cool idea. Unfortunately the sharpener doesn't sharpen the lead sharp enough for any real accurate marking and it, and the top of the pencil, are constantly falling off. Wish it would have worked better, could have been a great tool in the wood shop. I at first rated this pencil at 3 because it was not what i was looking for now that I have learned how to use it and realized what it was designed for I am raising my rating to 5 stars. Definitely worth the price.

Definitely useful for marking holes and scribing. Will not be the only pencil I use however, because it’s hard to keep handy (won’t tuck into my hat brim, or even stay in my pocket) AND the lead keeps breaking and falling out of the end of the mechanism. So, it stays in the layout drawer until I need it.

I was in a woodworking store, they had a name brand set of similar pencils. Of course I looked on Amazon for a cheaper version and found these. They are awesome. I use them on aluminum and the colors help to see the markings I make. The built in sharpener works great. No idea how I had found these earlier.

I use them in construction, for marking sheet metal. They work great and the sharpener is convenient

I do like these mechanical pencils but they are very cheap and do not last long. What I really dislike is the fact that the top cap pops off all the time and when you put it back on you have to push it down to lock it and that pushes the pencil lead out unnecessarily. After it gets so far out you have to click it all the way out and reinsert it. But, when sharpened they do produce a good thin line.

I was doubtful about these when I ordered them but they are great. No more problems with broken lead and time spent sharpening.Red is not so great, even on white it is not easy to see. But it comes with plenty of black "lead."

I tried one other brand before ordering these pencils in my need to satisfy a curiosity about this style of pencil and I have to say this product is very well made. They feel in your hand like they should have cost you much more than they actually did and in all honesty these pencils have completely replaced a standard carpenters pencil for me. The coloured refills are more of a crayon feel than standard pencil lead but the mark they leave can be an extremely fine point that still shows clearly. The standard lead refills are pretty solid, I have run into issues of them breaking inside the pencil if I drop the pencil on hard ground but even then generally you can still use them normally until the pieces are too small to be held in the tip. Overall it’s definitely worth the up front price because you rarely ever find yourself losing these and if someone steals your pencil it’s easy to tell who the culprit is compared to your old carpenters pencils that everyone else on site is carrying a copy of in their pocket.
