Fantastic sound and incredible value
For the price point and its compact size, this thing is remarkably awesome. For the first time in a very long time, I have pure digitial audio and 5.1 surround, without having a gigantic and obnoxiously over-complicated receiver. This is incredibly easy to set up, and has all the input options one should need these days. I was also immediately impressed by the sound quality. Granted, I already had very good Bose surround speakers, and I'm connected to my PC over HDMI and my iMac over Bluetooth-- and even before I connected the subwoofer I tried the other 5 speakers, and honestly, I probably don't necessarily need the subwoofer. That's how good it sounded, and with the ability to quickly adjust volume of speaker groups as well as bass and treble from the remote, I think for many people the subwoofer might be overkill. I got plenty of bass out of the main five, but again, they're exceptional Bose speakers, so your mileage may vary. But I digress. It's a fantastic little receiver, especially for an office or workshop, where it's very compact and unobtrusive, and you can bolt it down to whatever surface. For anyone who wants an excellent little receiver/amp that is extremely well-priced, I'd say you cannot go wrong with this one.My only slightly negative note is the voice that announces when the Bluetooth connection is established. It's a cartoonishly bad accent, almost like they're trying to be offensive and perpetuate the old Asian stereotype. But it's not a huge deal, and certainly not enough of a problem to worry about given how well it actually works and how good the sound quality is.

Great Device Especially for RV Van
The Pyle PFA540BT Compact 5.1 Channel Bluetooth Amplifier is great addition for use in a RV van, i.e., Class B motor home. First the negatives: it does not have an optical input and to get true 5.1 sound the input must come in via 1 of the 2 HDMI inputs. My SuperSonic SC-2412 LED Widescreen HDTV & Monitor 24", with Built-in DVD Player only has an optical out and 3.5mm/⅛in headphones out. Fortunately, I was to find a the “HDMI Audio Embedder” on Amazon, that accepts optical in and embeds the audio into HDMI out. This unit is relatively expensive i.e., $45.99 however there are not many units available that does this conversion. The second negative is the poor FM reception. I like to listen to public radio however the receiver only picks up very close-in FM stations and there is no AM on the unit. The goods outweigh negative. First good, it great to have Bluetooth on the van. Hence, I can Bluetooth my phone that allows me to listen to podcasts, Sirius/XM app, etc. throughout van in simulated 5.1 audio. Second, the unit runs off 12 volts along with the SuperSonic SC-2412 mention above. Hence there is no need to run the energy wasting inverter(s) on the van while chillin’ to electronic media. Third is its small footprint and height i.e. 2in tall × 5.8in deep × 8in wide. Per the attached picture. It easily fit on the shelf where the old DVD player sat. I have it fasten down with Velcro. With the additional HDMI inputs, I anticipate hooking my son’s Xbox. Last, point the build in surround sound system in the van are 4 ohms speakers. The Pyle PFA540BT had no issues playing through the 4-ohm speakers. Last, I purchase MOBOREST RCA Cable Audio Adapter, Phono RCA Male Plug to AV screw terminal A/V speaker wire connectors solderless adapter to connect the powered subwoofer the Pyle PFA540BT. Previously there was a proprietary LG connector for the subwoofer. The system sounds great when viewing a movie via Roku that is in surround sound. Other media sounds good as well in the simulated surround sound.

Good features.. sorta cheap
It does everything I was hoping it would. The remote feels cheap and everyone I connect or disconnect Bluetooth the unit announces the action in a foreign accent. I haven’t figured out if it can be turned off. For the cost I think it’s a good unit.

Barebones with quirky issues.
Note it does not have an optical in. The only way to get a 5.1 signal into it is through HDMI - except it can't pass through a signal greater than 1080p. For some reason, today's ubiquitous 4K HDMI signal gives this problems and all I see is a black screen and all I hear is nothing when using HDMI. Short of that, only Bluetooth and stereo-in via RCA cables are the only way to get a signal in - and these are only a 2-channel input. Using those mechanisms, the surround is matrix simulated, but it does a competent job. What I really needed was the features of a 5.1 amp that cost $300 and was at least 5 inches tall and 15" wide. The smallest low profile receiver would be $700 in the form if a Marantz. The Pyle is the only receiver with this tiny form factor that does close to what I want. The larger receivers do what I want, but are all too large for the room - I do have one of those big receivers in other rooms.

Does not work with HDMI
Bluetooth works fine. However if you’re looking to use this as a 5.1 receiver to plug your HDMI audio in to, this won’t work. Or at least it didn’t work for me. I was hoping to use it as an outdoor surround sound experience. I plugged my nVidia shield into the input. I plugged my XGimi projector into the output. Not only did I receive no video signal on my projector. But the audio didn’t even work when I only had the Nvidia shield plugged in.No idea why. But this is entirely useless unless you just use it as a 2.0 Bluetooth amp.

Perfect for my rv!
I wanted better sound from my television in my RV and this was perfect. I was a bit skeptical at first but once it was hooked up to the proper speakers it sounded great! This is my second Pyle purchase and I am very pleased with both for the money.
