I work on a federal site and just recently, our client, DOE, suddenly realized we were violating a federal regulation regarding dangerous weapons, specifically knives. Apparently, the regulation was amended in 2012 to reduce the legal blade length allowed on federal sites to less than 2.5 inches. That being said, all my carry knives were now illegal to bring to work. So I began searching for a good knife to fit within the regulatory allowance. This knife (as well as anotherl) fit the bill. So I bought them both. I was skeptical about this knife when I first looked at it. It looked nice and had nice reviews however, any other time I purchased a small knife, I received junk. But I figured it was worth a shot so I moved forward with the purchase. The knife arrived in a very nice, sturdy box (good start). Upon openening the box there was the knife and a small ring that can be attached to the knife so it can be worn on a necklace or lanyard (I don't use these things so the rings still in the box). I removed the knife and noticed right away that it felt solid in my hand. The bronze and brushed metal handle is rather attractive. The small flipper protruded just enough and has a small amount of gimp to grip with your forefinger in order to flip the blade open. It works nicely. The blade flipped open and the liner lock click solid as the blade locked into place. The blade itself is a darker gray and looks very nice. It is also very sharp right out of the box. It seems to hold a good edge. After several usages I decided to sharpen it to maintain a nice sharp edge. It appears to sharpen easily and hold an edge nicely. I have found that I use this mostly for opening boxes and cutting food while at work. It doesn't look like much of a knife looking at it online but once you have it in hand, all that goes out the window when you feel the weight while operating the blade. I would have to say the quality is impressive. A big knife in a little knife body. I do recommend this knife. It fits great in the pocket and works very well. A good go to knife for small needs. I think you'll like this knife if you're looking for something small and functional.

Pictured here is the Mini Elementum compared to its larger brother, the brass Civivi Elementum as well as a Kershaw Leek. The size of the Mini Elementum is similar to that of a USB flash drive. Holding the knife open, you can get a two-finger grip on it with a thumb on the spine of the blade. While you won't be doing any heavy work with a knife like this, it is perfectly fine for simple EDC tasks such as opening packages, snipping a loose thread, or other similar light duty tasks. What makes this knife unique is its build quality and action. Don't let this knife's tiny size fool you - this is no toy. The blade is made from 14C28N steel, which holds a great edge and is more corrosion resistant than its D2 steel big brother. When opening the knife using the flipper tab, the blade swings open quickly and locks in tight with a satisfying click. The weight is actually rather surprising for a knife this small too. While not exactly heavy, it feels solid in the hand, while being light enough to be barely noticeable in the pocket. Speaking of pockets, it fits perfectly into the fifth pocket of your jeans. All in all, while it may look silly at first glance, it's a handsome piece that serves its intended purpose very well.

Really nice qualty mini pocket knife. Nice balance, weight, opening and closing. Copper or brass they both are nice looking and have worn well so far.

A mostly useful and utilitarian keychain knife. I've been carrying a Victorinox (Swiss Army) Rambler, a multi-tool that's even smaller than the Mini-Elementum--I purchased it because I occasionally need the scissors--however I mainly need the knife blade which is too small and hard to select from its four other tools. So I ordered the mini Elementum (I already have two standard Elementums I like). Time will tell which one I prefer...they are each small and light enough that I might decide to carry both. My only issue with the Mini Elementum is that I have large hands and it's hard to find the leverage needed to use the flipper and work the lock bar to close the knife...even after a good deal of fidgeting I'm rarely able to open or close it one-handed, which reduces its utility a bit. But hey, that comes with being tiny.

Was looking for a small knife for everyday carry. Most EDC knives are too big for my taste. Before trying the Mini Elementum, I also tried the same maker's Baby Banter and it just felt too chunky in my pocket. This knife's blade is about half an inch shorter than the Baby Banter's and it is overall much slimmer. The blade is still long enough for everyday cutting tasks (for me, mostly opening packages, taking tags off clothes, etc.) but virtually disappears into my front pocket when not in use. Other reviewers say the beautifully burnished finish is easily scratched. I don't carry anything in my front pocket that could scratch it, so mine is holding up well. Though I could ask for both sides to be finished th samy, the fact that one side is plain steel makes it easy to orient it correctly for opening and use. The opening/closing action is so smooth, the knife is virtually a fidget toy in itself (although a potentially dangerous one). I like this knife so much that I recently had a mild panic when I realized it wasn't in my pocket. Fortunately, I retraced my steps and found it on the kitchen island next to a package I'd opened. Whew!

As far as the knife itself goes, it’s a wonderful little object. The copper and brushed metal aesthetic really compliment one another beautifully. It is finely made and definitely a quality product. The action usually works for a solid engagement into the lock, although at certain angles it’s weaker and may only open halfway, this is especially true for when you hold it vertically and it’s fighting gravity. If you put their small keyring on it they include (it doesn’t come with a pocket clip so if you want to carry it you’ll probably want to) you will have to consciously move it so that it doesn’t impede the blade from opening, as the keychain can lay over the deployment area at some angles. For someone that wants a folding knife that will literally fit in with their keys (as it’s almost exactly the same size of them) this would be great. Therein lies my real problem with the item; it’s too small! I can’t fault Civivi for this, as they provide the dimensions truthfully (although the picture used in the Amazon listing gives a pretty distorted sense of proportion). It really feels awkward in the hand and I can’t imagine actually wanting to use it for anything but as a sporadic “I can’t be bothered to find my regular-sized EDC right now” sort of task, like opening a package or envelope or cutting some tape. What would benefit the product is just bringing it up to at least a full 2” inch blade. I realize that the full sized Elementum II has a blade 2.96” long, but 1.83” approaches novelty territory in my opinion (unless you have smaller hands, then your experience may differ quite a bit.) I believe a product this nice deserves a little more versatility than it currently has because of its size limitations. Other than the knife being slightly smaller than I’d like, it’s a fine product that looks truly great amongst the rest of my small pocket knife collection. I really like Civivi so far, they seem to have a really great variety amongst their product line.

This little knife is great. I like a knife that is small and light enough to fit in the coin pocket of jeans and disappear until you need it, and this one is perfect for that (pictured with a AA battery for scale). Despite its small size, it feels very solid in your hand and is very smooth. It holds an edge nicely and works great for most small daily tasks around the home or office. Overall a good buy.
