ALVINJet-Bow Beam Combination Drawing Set (929JS)

Everything arrived on time and worked perfectly. I had this one for a couple days and everything worked as good as the products that I already have and exceeded the expectations i had for this set. I like this one very much and it works great.

Excellent.mainly used for pen and ink work.been using alvin sets since 1969,did not dissapoiny.A lot of reviews are old,since have changed packaging,arrived in new and whole condition. My first with "speed"mechanism.time will tell.

The container was opened. The parts were free floating in a plastic bag. I had to assemble the pencil and I don't think it is the same one as the picture in the ad shows. (It looks as though that one in the picture has an eraser and mine has a metal assembly.) A thumb wheel for the small set of compasses was missing the male threaded piece. There were a couple of mystery pieces of plastic, maybe they were part of the packaging. I was mainly interested in getting the ruling pen heads and they appeared to be okay. I have another Alvin set, so I won't bother with the hassle of trying to exchange for a full set. I did read that another person had the same problem with the parts being loose in a bag.

Fully functional for what I intended but seems somehow cheaply made for the price, plus I was expecting it to be new and not loose in a zip lock bag. Also, the plastic case had opened during shipment and parts were spilled throughout the bag when I received it. I give the tools themselves 5 stars but these other small details make me feel like I overpaid by about $20.00.

Not really a professional set, but good for starters.
