Buddy Rich Live at Ronnie Scott's
Buddy Rich Live at Ronnie Scott' sThis was a great album released in the early'70s and is now available as an extended 2 cd set. The lp version had the strongest material, however the cd set is well worth it as there are other gems in the set that were previously unreleased. The extra tunes contain some gems and the band was one of Buddy's best.If you liked the lp you'll want this.

The cover with 'that' snare drum
Yes, the Fibes, when he was supposed to be using a Slingerland based on his endorsement. That ended his relationship with Slinglerland until he got his old Radio Kings out of the garage, well warehouse maybe, no someone actually lent him theirs I think or did Buddy's up for him. Anyway, one of the best recorded BR albums, great arrangements, superb playing and one of the finest drum solos you will ever hear. And a very funny monologue to top it off. Essential for ones BR collection.

This is the CD to have!
This is the only CD of this title to purchase. It is the only disc that is a complete reissue of the original RCA LP record. Others have released abridged versions, but this two disc set is complete. The band and Buddy are on fire here and pulled out the all the stops to present exciting musical nights at Ronnie Scott's. Highly recommended!

Another Buddy Rich Masterpiece
Coming from Buddy, the best all-around drummer in the world then and still...now. I've never heard a bad cut from Buddy. These discs are great examples of the finest drumming one would ever want to hear.

My favorite by the world's greatest drummer
First of all I'm a drummer and Buddy is my hero. I was getting ready to go to Vietnam and turn 21. Two weeks before I was to leave I went to see Buddy at a club in Philly, my Mom called the place and asked them to do something for me. Well I was sittng on the bandstand and after got to meet Buddy anf get my picture taken with him. This recording is what it was like to be at Buddy's show. This band cooks snd Buddy is in fine formThe set is full of great tunes some classics others new The Word and Time Being are two of my favorites. I had this when it first came out but this remastered version adds so much more. Every one should have one Budxy Rich recording anf this is the one to have.

Nice live recording!
A live recording with a very nice feel of "Being There" at the club in London. The band is playing really well here.

Buddy at his best
Bought this album when it first came out in 1972. It's Buddy with his swinging big band at his best; I saw the band on numerous occasions in theatres in Yorkshire between 1968 - 1984 and was fortunate enough to spend some time with Buddy talking drums. I cannot imagine how the power must have sounded in the confines of Ronnie's though; more jazz-rock styles here than on some of the earlier albums. Not the overall quality of musicians that featured on some of Buddy's small group recordings with Harry Edison, here he had young musicians mainly straight out of the US Music Schools, but still a great album with Pat LeBarbera outstanding on a number of tracks. A couple of outstanding Buddy solos and the only man who appeared at Ronnie's with even more dry sarcastic wit than Ronnie himself; his introduction of the band and audience chat is just so typical of his appearances. If you want to hear him play in a different context (and can find / afford the box set - 78 tracks, a collection of some hard to find albums) look out for the Classic Emarcy, Verve Small Group Buddy Rich sessions (1953 - 61) with Harry Edison, Thad Jones, Benny Carter, Ben Webster, Oscar Peterson, Frank Rosolino, Jimmy Rowles...the list goes on.

Some LP clicks and clunks evident on CD transfer. Great music!
Great music from Buddy Rich at the top of his game. The only concern that I have is that it states its "Digitally Remastered". Although this is obviously converted to the digital CD format some of this appears to be direct transfer for LP and associated clicks and clunks are sometimes evident. I presume that it wasn't fully remastered otherwise these wouldn't be present in the audio.Having said that, the band and Buddy are fantastic and it is a must have for any Buddy Rich fans. Buy it!

Buddy and the band blow up a storm in London
This, I would say, is the definitive issue for this concert. Outstanding music recorded during shows at Ronnie Scott's in the early 1970s, and very well recorded - Bob Auger did a great job.The other reviewers have covered the track list in depth, so all I can say is that this is a thoroughly enjoyable double disc of a big band at the height of their powers. Difficult to pick out favourites as it's all great stuff, but "Time Being" has to be heard for the drumming alone - brilliant!I cannot recommend this disc too highly. If you enjoy hard-swinging, live big band jazz that features outstanding drumming - just buy and enjoy!

Simply awesome
What a great recording, his half time gag routine is also great, he could have been an old-school comedian.
