HONEYSEWFree Motion Quilting Template Sewing Ruler Templates for Most of Domestic Sewing Machine (#1 Fan Flower)

I’m new to ruler work on the longarm. This one is just a little thin for me. I’m attaching pictures of the larger & smaller ends. I feel like with more practice they will come out even better.

I like this item, but I wish there were instructions. I will have to take a class from my local quilt shop to determine how to use them.

Easy to use and makes it easy to quilt.

It was a but smaller then I expected.

First let me say that I am new at free motion quilting with templates.I found them small and therefore often part of the presser foot would hit my hand while trying to navigate the template.I like the designs but would prefer buying a templatewith a larger area to hold onto for maneuvering.

I really enjoyed working with this template. It helped me learn how to do feathers. I only gave it 4 stars for sturdiness because it is a little thin to use with a long arm sewing machine. I had to make sure I took my time so I didn’t break my needle or worse.

Nice design, but the markings are off so it does not center well. Returned for refund.

I just got them and haven't had time to use them yet. Each one is made of very study Acrylic material. I also got the Honey Sew blue & white file folders to store them in & easy to locate & label each template.

The media could not be loaded.  Note that I have posted a quick test video for sizing reference so you can see how small the template is to use. My hands, despite what they may look like in the video, are actually very small and in fact are an XS on the sizing template for quilting gloves.I ordered the set of templates with 8 different designs. I did in fact receive all 8 templates and a low-shank ruler foot, with no instructions included in the package. I already had a foot but did test this one out and it worked fine with my Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 835 quilting machine. While the templates are usable, there could be definite improvements on designs.I have used some other free-motion ruler templates in the past but I am still not the most proficient user so your results may vary from what I've found. I have quickly tested each on scrap material with batting the same thickness as my normal quilts. I did find the most difficulties in replicating the spinning flower design on multiple attempts, and was disappointed in the usage of the feathers in a straight line ruler. I've provided some pictures so you can see dimensions of the rulers and the ruler foot and will provide some more details at the end of my review.I found the ruler templates to be too small in the hand to get a good grip, my fingers tended to end up near the foot often, and the templates moved around too much on the fabric. I may attempt to add rubber grippers on the bottom at a later date.The opening on the circular templates also tended to alter the pattern slightly when sewing in that corner as it would open further when in that area. Additionally, the patterns were a little more difficult to achieve clean results as the etched patterns were more difficult to see and line up than it would be as a dark printed line on the template.I also found the feathers in a straight line left much to be desired. The ruler being so small to hold onto really moved a lot. I tried to find a way to avoid having to reposition the needle with each repositioning of the template. I tried to backtrack over my stitches and then reposition the template but it was still cumbersome and didn't achieve the results I desired as easily as I wanted. In the end I have found it is far easier to use the ruler template to trace the pattern on the fabric and then quilt it that way thus defeating the purpose of the ruler template itself.Ruler Foot-The foot does work with low-shank machines.-You must remove your screw entirely to install this on your machine.-The foot is sturdy enough, and does have a slit for moving your thread under the foot.-Pictures of foot dimensions are included.Ruler Templates-Templates included in this set are: Fan Diamond, Fan Flower, Spinning Flower, Fan Dahia, Fan Crystal, Fan Flame, Fan Petal, and Feathers in a straight line.-The template rulers are 1/8" thick and while sporting a "non-slip" edge on one side do tend to slide around quite a bit.-All circular pattern templates are indicated as a diameter of 4-1/2" finished product. The rulers themselves are small with most having their longest straight edge being no longer than 3-1/4".Overall, I can see myself using some of the templates but am still a little disappointed in the results.I really hope this review was helpful!
