Mixed Feelings. Can I give 3.5?
I gave this four stars, but honestly I had mixed feelings. The book was well written, and much of it made sense and was well thought out. However, there was one little chunk that lost me here. It basically stated that victims, in order to recover, needed to discover within themselves what they had done in order to cause their aggressor to harm them. I had SERIOUS issues with that. Skip that chapter and it isn't a bad little book

Good recap
I have read a lot of books on trauma, PTSD, etc over the past two years. This one is a great synopsis of the trauma but also takes it from the individual to the national level with excellent questions. Almost all of the books I have read have not included the spiritual element. This one does. That is needed just as much as the emotional, physical, intellectual ways of addressing the issue of trauma from the individual to the nation state. I would say if you can only read one book on trauma - this should be the one.

Excellent!
Condition and facilitation of sale easy and superb. The books arrived before minimal deadline and I can hardly wait to study Interfaith Conflict resolution and Trauma as related to Skills in the ministry at our fabulous, Hartford Seminary. This Spring.

Everyone should have a copy of this extremely fine book about trauma
The clear definitions about the many kinds of trauma found in today's world are very helpful, as are the suggestions for accompanying folks through each type to promote healing.

Prevention of violence and healing after violence!
The violence cycle often results in devastation and emptiness; forgiveness and healing are a path out of the chaos and toward unity and peace.

Very, very good book!
I'm working as a restorative Justice mediator, doing it for several years. And still I gained many new insights and deeper understandings of my work and the people I meet and connect with from this lovely easy read book. It's not a comprehensive in-dept book, but rather a introduction to the subject of understanding, responding to- and heal trauma, and I can recommend it to anyone meeting people living with trauma.
