Sferra Celine Throw Blanket

I've had a Sferra throw blanket in a pale gold for many years - it is super-soft and warm, and I love it! I bought this for another room and washed it before I used it, but I think it will take a couple of more washes to get it as soft as my old one (which still looks great, BTW!). The color is brighter than I expected, but it stil goes well in its new home! These are not cheap, but well worth it - they last forever and still look new.

In the photos, the "paprika" color looks orange. Instead, it was more of a rust brown color. Otherwise came nicely packaged for gifting and seemed soft and nice quality. But I was really looking for orange, so returned it.

This is a nice cotton throw, except that when it arrived at our house, my husband (who opened the box) said "Uh, this thing smells really strong." Strong scents tend to bother me. The scent of this throw reminded me of potpourri, not unpleasant, just persistent. To get rid of the smell, I threw it in the wash immediately with some other orange/red items (I bought the color "Paprika," and it's lovely).After the first wash, the whole laundry room smelled like the blanket, as did the rest of my laundry. After a second wash, the smell was almost gone, but not quite. That being said, the throw did survive two washes and some time in the dryer. Again, the smell isn't bad, some people might even like it, I just don't like strong scents. I have no idea why it came like this, I've never run into a scented throw before, but the laundry seems to have helped a lot.I do like the throw, it is a thick, somewhat soft cotton that held up well to my attempts to rid it of the potpourri scent. It'll work for our purposes, and it's hard to find nice all-cotton throws in this particular colorway.

Sferra has been my favorite brand for linens for over 20 years. I make a point of buying that brand specifically. You pay more for the quality but as the saying goes, “you get what you pay for”. Imagine my surprise when I found these magnificent throws on Amazon. The blanket comes in a plastic zippered bag which leaves a temporary plastic smell. Don’t worry, it won’t last long. I ordered the color mushroom in hopes that it would work with my new living room furniture. Perfection! Go ahead, spring for the extra cost up front. It will save you money in the long run.

This is a very good looking throw. The size is generous. My only gripe is that it is not that soft against your skin. I am washing it according to directions as I write this and hope that it will be softer afterwards.

I wanted to give my 90-year-old aunt this as a birthday present. I was very disappointed when I felt how rough it was. It’s Not soft and cuddly at all. I don’t recommend this blanket. . . especially for the price.

This is everything I wanted and more! Very solid, beautiful throw blanket. It's not bulky at all, which is perfect for my needs, but it's still very warm. The packaging it arrives in is high-end and perfect for gifting. Very happy with my purchase!
