Francesca Woodman's Notebook

This very small notebook comes in an oversized box. It is really more like a pamphlett than a proper book. While the superimposition of the photographs is quite beautiful, the text is in Italian and appears to be routine school work. There is a very short essay by Woodman's father. This would only be worthwhile for a Woodman collector who wants everything they can find about the artist. For a non-specialist, one of the catalogues of her work would be a better purchase.

though it's quite lovely, it's just a really short a book. I don't know that it's worth the price. It's also completely written in Italian. didn't see that coming. Italian is lovely, I just don't happen to speak it.

I love Francesca’s work and looked forward to this book, but it is much thinner than I anticipated and had very few photos. I don’t read Italian, so it would be difficult to translate the underlying text. I don’t think she actually wrote the text, but I’m not positive.Much happier with her other photographic books.

It's a nice book but it is really small, Wish it had more content and printed on a better type of paper. I was kinda disappointed at what I really got for the price that I paid. The boxing is big, but the contents are small and really not too much within the contents either. Nevertheless if you are a big fan of this artist you will enjoy it in your collection.

Just a flimsy box with a small pamphlet inside. Overpriced and hardly insightful. I promptly returned it. Ummm- no thanks.

I find this book terribly useless. It's view on Amazon.com is completely misleading: in fact, this is thin 24-page overpriced book without page numbers that comes in an oversized box. Another misleading thing is that the language of the book is indicated as English. It only has completely boring 1.5-page note by George Woodman. The rest of the "book" is in Italian. If you expect to get an idea of what Francesca felt or thought by reading her English-language notes, forget it! Even if you can read Italian texts, this is not that simple in this case: the text is overlaid by photos on many of these 24 pages.

I cannot read italian but it's a stunning, paperback artists book.She is my absolute favorite artist.

This is a very thin pamphlet that looks more like a book of liner notes one would find in a music box set. It is housed in a MUCH larger cardboard box which is the one you see in the main photo that is just useless and misleading.Even the pamphlet, or actual book, is very small and contains only a few pictures and is maybe ten pages long. All in all just a disappointing cash grab. This thing is normally 50 dollars! I can buy one of her actual books of photography for that. I will definitely return this item.

Print quality is not there. Rather disappointing. Small notebook of 20 pages, in a huge box.

Great book

Schwierig. Ein Muss, wenn man Woodman liebt, bzw. ihre Arbeiten.Als Reprint ist es lieblos gemacht. Ich habe, bevor ich als Fotograf begann zu arbeiten, viel Zeit mit Reprints und buchbinderischen Arbeiten zu tun gehabt. Es gibt herausragende Beispiele. Dieses hier ist unter dem Aspekt der Produktion keine vierzig Euro wert. Zumal die Aufmachung auch der zerrissenen Seele der Fotografin überhaupt nicht gerecht wird. So verpackt man Sondereditionen mit Pilcher-Filmen.Aber, und das ist der Kern: so schlecht gemacht es sein mag - es gibt kein anderes. Der unverzeihliche Kitsch der Verpackung und das vom Satzspiegel her wirklich schlecht gemachte Reprint (ganze Worte verschwinden in der Heftung) lassen es mich trotzdem nicht zurück schicken. Was ich nicht wirklich begründen kann.

La valutazione non è relativa al lavoro di Francesca Woodman, artista di assoluta singolarità , ma all'operazione editoriale: per 35 euro(prezzo di listino)ci troviamo di fronte A SEI FOGLI SEI PIEGATI E SPILLATI inseriti poi in una brutta scatola di cartone. Trovo le scelte effettuate in casa editrice francamente pessime a partire dai colori della scatola e del bruttissimo lettering -che imita malamente quello della copertina del quaderno originale usato dalla Woodman per il suo lavoro- fino all'idea di inserire le riproduzioni in un foglio di dimensioni maggiori; si poteva pensare ad una custodia telata con all'interno la presentazione del lavoro e poi inserire in una tasca interna la riproduzione anastatica completa del quaderno originale o, meglio ancora, dell'intera serie dei quaderni. Peccato, un'occasione perduta sull'altare della coppia "minima spesa, massimo guadagno".

Flimsy cardboard cover, ought to have been hard, 13 hand written Italian pages, interspersed with 7 beautiful pictures, by Francesca, beautiful Francesca, plus 2 wordy pages by Dad tagged on. Felt very costly on opening. Still love Her though!
