I stick with the name-brand because I've never been disappointed. I always buy the extra-strengh adhesive version for the same reason - never had an issue with labels coming off even after many years.

Great tape. Use this for all of the work I do in my PTE500 as sometimes the non-genuine ones jam which is inconvenient when on site for a client, rendering the rest of the cartridge useless. The knockoffs work pretty good most of the time but sometimes the lamination peels when wrapping cables which doesn’t happen with the genuine tape. Worth the couple extra dollars if you’re using this professionally. Haven’t tested exposing to water, etc but it seems like much stronger tape than traditional labeler tape.

This tape will adhere to almost anything including porous materials and wood.

I won't buy this extra sticky version again. I got this because I thought it would stick better than the regular Brother TZe-231 tape. It is sticky, but I found that when I tried to peel off the backing it was hard for me to remove. Also, instead of neatly peeling off sometimes a little piece of the backing would rip and be extremely hard to remove. I am going back to the regular Brother The-231 tape.

I really enjoy my brother label maker, but the genuine brother labeling tapes are way too expensive. This product does provide better adhesion compared to the regular tape but not by much. I'll continue to stick with the regular genuine tape for the time being, but I'll maybe perhaps start using the after market products and see if there is a big difference.

In the past, I've purchased plenty of regular adhesive Brother 12mm Black on White TZ tape. By and large I was very happy with the product, but I was often frustrated when needing to apply the tape to anything with texture. I often needed to apply a very strong double tack, two sided tape between the label and the substrate. The regular adhesive just didn't cut it. The Brother TZES231 Strong Adhesive tape is making life a whole lot simpler. So far the strong adhesive tape has stuck to everything to which I've applied it, no elaborate middle adhesive. The price is also very good. One caveat, it is suggested on the packaging to cut this tape by hand as the strong adhesive may gum up the cutting mechanism on the label maker. Something to consider.

Purchased for outdoor labeling. Adhesive is garbage. Installed in mild weather on perfectly clean smooth surfaces. Does not adhere properly. Would not recommend at all.
