Covers a Wide Variety of Topics Related to Water
Water Cycles is a great book that covers a wide range of topics that are all related to water beyond the main water cycle. The water cycle initially seemed like a strange topic to write a full book on given that the water cycle usually only describes how water evaporates from the surface of the earth, rises into the atmosphere, cools and condenses into rain or snow in clouds, and falls again to the surface as precipitation. The DK Water Cycles book covers many topics related to water such as how water is used in a body, how animals live in water, how water is used in the house, how the weather is affected by water, and ultimately how it comes back to Earth. It is fascinating to see how water moves within the natural world and I loved how kids are given a larger scope explanation of how water is used in each step of the cycle. Most simple concepts are explained over two pages, and everything is done so in an easy to understand way. The book is fully illustrated and the images are bright and engaging. Both the younger and older kids enjoyed going through this book, and even the adults found new things to learn. It's a great science book to add to your children's bookshelf.

Thorough coverage of the water cycle
My son actually saw a show the other day that was an educational episode on water cycles. I was really impressed that he not only asked about water cycles but also went on to describe them a little bit to me. It was his understanding and I was very proud of him. I pulled up some sources online to show him some pictures to see the cycle which is much like this book cover. That’s what led me to look for a book that was specifically about water cycles. This book is impressive. Obviously it’s a lot of information on water cycles versus just a brief overview. But I do think that it will serve as a helpful resource as he ages for school as well. There is quite a bit of information covered in this book. I appreciate that it’s hard back because it will last and hold up thru the years. The water cycle is broken down into many different facets. It covers the importance of water for humans and animals. Many different animals are discussed in this book as well. I believe it’s a very thorough description of the water cycle and everything that is affected by water and the environment

Informative and engaging
Good home reference book for kids.- 9.25 x 11.25 x 0.75" hardcover book.- Good quality color printing and paper. Cover is a dull coated stock with spot varnish accents. Interior also appears to be a dull coated paper- Imagery is a hybrid of semi-realistic illustrations and photography. I'm pleased by how well these were merged together with appropriate typography in the layout to achieve a sophisticated presentation of the information.Content is broken down into these topics:- What is water? Where? Overview of cycles.- Water on Earth (water cycle, weather patterns, locations)- Using Water (in cells, plants, food from water, dehydration, collecting water)- Life in Water (ocean environments and focuses on a wide variety of animal types)- Water and Humans (irrigation, in the home, wastewater, in skyscrapers, in space)Easy to follow, well articulated informational book. The Amazon product page recommends this for ages 7-11, but my 5 year old likes these types of books too. She can read them but probably won't comprehend/retain the info like an older kid would. But if you're able read collaboratively and break down the information, younger kids can gain a lot from these books.
