ProGrade 59101 25LB ANVIL
K**.
Do not expect to be able to use this for even light smithing work
This ASO (anvil shaped object) is made of cast iron, is not hardened, so if you're planning on using this for anything much more than hammering on metal just to get out aggression or as a display item, you might want to go with railroad track or an actual anvil made of HARDENED STEEL.I made the mistake of buying this without thinking, and now it's just something I use to pound against so I don't damage my worktable. I use a piece of railroad track that I ground to shape for my actual smithing anvil.

Cast iron
This is a Cast iron anvil, unless your hitting your metal with a pillow it will dent and even throw chunks of cast iron everywhere. So unless thats what you want dont buy this

Don't waste your money
I put this 25lb anvil to a weeks worth of light copper work.Looks like a bridge troll chewed on it.This pos truly makes me regret my prime membership.

Not what I’d hoped for
For the price I paid I’m very disappointed. It already has chips on it, straight out of box, (chips aren’t horrible, but still),and it’s very off centered. For what I’m using it for this is very disappointing. Wish I’d went with another one. If you are fine with those possibilities it’s an ok anvil. If not, don’t get it.

Disapointing
Not good quality. For my requirements size and weight are excellent. But quality of the casting is poor. Four large (1/4 - 3/8 inch) cavities in face, all four filled. More troubling are the hundreds of very small cavities, the size of pin heads. These are caused by gas bubbles in the pour. Additionally, the iron is very soft. Easily filed and I expect dented by hard blows. Treat it gently and I expect it will provide good service.

So frickin T H I C C
The sheer mass and sturdiness of this hunky piece of metal is very appealing in so many ways. I love the touch of it and how it’s weight seems to increase every passing second as it digs deeper into my sternum. Think I may have to grab to second to get the job done. You’re welcome Bezos.

Works great
Purchased to make my bracelets. I cleaned it up a bit. It’s really kind of soft metal but it’s fine for what I’m using it for
