Solved my temperature problem with GE Profile Refrigerator
Doesn't seem to be an actual GE product, and it's slightly different in design, but it seems to work fine. Fairly easy to install. Fixed my problem with temperature control. Turns out the original part had broken (air control door), so maybe this one will actually be better than the original. Thanks to the honest but possibly incompetent GE service person. For some reason he never actually checked this part to see if it was working properly. I suppose if he started taking things apart he would have had to charge me more. He did some tests and said he thought there was nothing wrong with the refrigerator, but it turned out he was wrong. I was always getting too cold. But as he left he gave me the GE part number of this part and said that I should be able to replace it easily. The part number led me to this part on Amazon. I think he told me that if he replaced it the cost would be around $300.

My GE fridge was freezing stuff like milk and salad
So here's the scoop on this very interesting part. First of all the part is big. But guess what - it works perfectly. My GE fridge was freezing stuff like milk and salad, etc, even when I turned the temp up, so I did a bit of net research and many of you had the same problems and recommended changing this assembly which contains a fan and a little door mechanism, which I assume allows the flow of cold air from the freezer, circulating throughout the fridge. Don't ask me the operational details, I just followed a YouTube vid on replacing it and voila! The problems are gone. Food is cooling instead of freezing in the refrigerator section of the unit. But like I said before - it's a big plastic housing for a little fan and door that circulates airflow nicely now.Not too difficult to replace if you follow the directions - about 20 - to 30 mins to replace, Seems a a shame throw out the old part - they could recycle it or something. Works well.

The Best Fix
This kit is essential if you experience frozen lettuce on the refrigerator side of your side by side GE refrigerator/freezer.You will notice extreme temperature fluctuation on the refrigerator side even when temperature is set warmer to avoid freezing lunch meat etc.If this is your case, consider replacing the whole unit which is this part. This kit includes the damper, fan unit, gaskets for most any configuration along with the air chute and nozzle. This is by far better than trying to replace just the damper.Over time the damper door begins to stick partially open to full open in extreme cases. The main control for the refrigerator sends a signal to regulate the damper door when temperatures are too warm or too cold on the refrigerator side. The inverse is also probable when the freezer seems to work just fine but the refrigerator side never really gets below 40 or 45 degrees Fahrenheit, indicating that maybe the damper door is stuck closed. The damper door sticking open is the most common problem. Repairing the damper alone is not worth the trouble. If you have to go to all the trouble to remove the damper and fan assembly possibly breaking something in the process, replacing the whole unit at once makes a lot more sense. If you have never done this sort of repair yourself, you will learn very quickly that this kit is worth every penny you paid for it and be thankful you did not cheap out and try to replace only the damper. The entire chute is lined with form fit Styrofoam, you break it, you trashed it. Replacing just the damper and not breaking any Styrofoam in the process can be likened to brain surgery, very ticklish. Take my word for it.When I removed my damper assembly a large chunk of Styrofoam remained stuck to the back wall of the refrigerator with factory adhesive. If I did not have a complete new kit, I would have had to buy one at that point.

Seems like a cheap generic knockoff
It says it's Genuine OEM part but it is cheap injection molded Styrofoam in a plastic shell. There are NO identifying marks on it: no part number, no serial number, no nothing. The good part? It works. The bad part? it's way more noisy than the original. The first one roared and was simply unbearable. Amazon sent a replacement, but the second one, while bearable, is still much louder than the original. And the fan is just a computer case fan with the proper connector. If I bought a computer that was this noisy I'd be really unhappy. Hardly worth $170.00. I've been very happy with my GE appliances, 20 years old, but this replacement part doesn't live up to what I expected.

Works perfectly! Fits like original and easy to replace.
Fits perfectly and solved the problem! Our refrigerator was so cold that everything was freezing (as low as 27 degrees).I took the cover piece off and could see that the little plastic door that allows cold air from the freezer to enter was broken in the open position- essentially allowing cold air to enter continuously.I thought I could just replace that little plastic door, but I guess it only comes in this cover piece that includes a new fan and wiring harness?Oh well, the price was reasonable, and the replacement fit perfectly. The refrigerator is perfect now, and will cool to whatever temp we set it too.Definitely recommended if your refrigerator is way too cold!!

GE Profile Arctica PSS25MGNA
Take a point off with the quality and packaging. Hope it lasts. Installation is somewhat straightforward. Take the top light cover off with screw in the front, like you change the light bulb. Remove the 4 screws and lose the lighting fixture. Take the air path cover and remove the two screws secure the damper unit. Wiggle and remove it. The replacement part is a tight fit. Reverse the process to complete the work. Phillips screwdriver is needed. [Note] the unit with the yellow form is the original damper unit.[Update a day later] veggie frozen issue solved. There were some occasional fan noise. Most of the time, it is quite.
