These work quite well. I cut the drywall around them and attached them directly to the studs in the wall. This way I didn’t have to router out the back of my shelves.

I bought these because they were 1-1/4" wide which I needed for a 1-1/2" butcherblock shelf. They were perfect for that. They are very sturdy with lots of mounting holes to help find the studs. I would only recommend mounting on studs as this is a hefty bracket and I can't imagine it holding a heavy load using drywall anchors. The reason for only 4 stars is because the instructions said to use a 9/16" drill bit but I drilled a 1/2" test hole in a scrap piece and that was actually the perfect size. If you ensure your pin alignment is accurate then that will provide a good fit in my opinion. Besides, my local hardware stores didn't carry an 8" long 9/16" bit so I was kind of forced into trying the 1/2" bit. I'm sure you can order that bit from Amazon but do so when you order these brackets.

We are hanging a 5-10 lb shelf and this seems to be flexing and my shelf is not level due to the flexing of the post. Very disappointed. We purchased heavy duty brand for an our mantel and it worked great. Would not recommend this brand if you are hanging anything with weight.

Used 2 of the brackets to support a live edge floating shelf / table. The 12 inch length and the multiple holes for attaching to the wall worked out great.You need the appropriate equipment to use, for example a half inch extra long (I bought 17 inch) drill bit and the capability to drill perfectly straight, 90 degrees to the edge of the wood, for 12 inches. The included guide "helps".

Originally bought brackets that were separate but getting them both level was nearly impossible. After severely damaging my wall with holes, I decided to spend the extra money to buy attached brackets and it was totally worth the extra money. I believe it can with a template too. Ended up taking about 15 minutes to install 3 of them. Great quality and they’re holding up really well with heavy items.

Used to install my fireplace mantel. Solid log, weighs about 40 pounds. This handled without any issue at all. Would definitely buy again.

The bars are solid and strong. They will be holding up 3” solid wood shelves with ease.
