A Romp Through Pre-history
This first novel is an imaginative romp through a pre-history that never was. At least, I don't think it ever was; I don't really know what happened 32,000 years ago. The story posits a cycle of civilizations on this planet, beginning with "pre-humans" and leading to our present civilization, with long periods of barbarism in between. The story opens as the protagonist, Mona Ann Lisa, has just become the youngest spaceship commander in the history of the World Alliance. The catch that the splinter Atlantis Alliance, which totalitarian, controlling, and downright nasty, is about to start a devastating war. The plot charges past that war into an attempt to salvage human civilization that faces the challenge of an evil self-aware starship that wants to wipe out all human life with a giant asteroid, an on to an alien invasion by still another star-faring race. The pace of the story is breakneck and non-stop, dizzying at times. Using contemporary names for ancient characters is a bit disconcerting; and the novel is long on plot, but short on characterization and description. Hopefully, George B will improve on those in coming volumes. I wanted to give the book 3 1/2 stars, but that's not an option. Four is close enough

You won't be able to put it down.
This book takes you into the cosmos with high adventure but with a practical story line. I really liked the way Earth was brought into the story and the possibility that something like this really happened.A Great science fiction novel with hopefully more to come.
