Air Wars: The Global Combat Between Airbus and Boeing

What an amazing book
The big jet aeroliner has to a large extent shaped the modern world and it is fascinating to see its development through the post war years by the giant manufacturers and airlines as told by men who were THERE.Riveting stuff, the the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands and titanic sums of money turn on the decisions the the industry leaders make. Two standouts, Firstly Boeing, this is what happens when leadership of an engineering company passes from engineers to accountants and for Airbus is surprising how little curiosity has been shown by European taxpayers over the roughly £30 billion that has been poured down the hole marked A380.

A very good account
This is a very good account of the competition between Airbus and Boeing, but the book suffers from all the executives quoted therein not being very articulate.

A good read, if this is your interest.
I have really enjoyed reading this and getting some of the back stories of the Airbus history. My only comment would be that there is a "slight" bias towards Boeing. I better understand the current problems in Boeing and the unfortunate potential future, Airbus needs Boeing to continue and Boeing needs Airbus to continue to get the significant illegal subsidies and financial support it gets, unless they can lose the accountant based Business attitudes. A good buy.

Air Wars
This is a fascinating insight into the big stakes world of airliner manufacturing, where so much still rests on personal relationships and reputation. When there's billions on the table, and little to choose between options, who ya gonna call? It's an unlikely tale, and this is a very good telling of it. Thanks S Hamilton!

A great history of the battle between Airbus and Boeing
A fantastic history of the battle between Airbus and Boeing. Although Leahy's story is included, the book is much more than a biography. The author has been sitting on a front-row seat watching the fight for years - and getting a lot of off-record briefings as well. Anyone who wants to understand commercial aviation should read it.

Tedious hagiography
Of John Leahy. It is written in very short declarative sentences. It contains a wealth of abbreviations. These relate to airplane models. It contains little human colour. After a while it becomes simply unbearable.

Best book on Civil Aero Industry by a long mile
I have covered Civil Aero for 20 years and Scott’s book is the total standout on what is otherwise a v poorly covered and secretive Industry. The quality of views and access to the people that have formed and observed both companies is unprecedented. I am v surprised Scott has actually been able to pull this off. His write up, mostly of it is factual, will become industry reference for many years to come. Hats off

Great Book
SO far ahead of its time, that it states exactly what is going out in Boeing today!

A good try about a lot more than what time suggests
The book is ok, but it would have tremendously benefited from a second write as it's quite messy and much more than about John Leahy.I do think it's unfinished, it's a bit of a shame. There's also a lot of repeat that should have been cleaned.

Atual e elucidativo
Altamente recomendado!
