great movie, nice bonus things in this one

I gave this movie a 5 star rating elsewhere. I do want to touch on the wealth of extras here. Fascinating how Linklater (and the actors) pulled it off. The actor's reactions to the process, especially Ellar, was fascinating. Like the emotional reaction to when they finally saw the movie edited together (they never even saw dailies for the entire 12 years--had to be really weird for Ellar). There wasn't a script, and they never saw scenes they weren't in. Patricia and Ethan didn't have all that many scenes together, and they only really learned about the other character through watching the movie--like life. Remarkable. At some point, the interviews get a little repetitive, but they're worth it because every so often there is a gem, (especially from Patricia Arquette), like about how the movie led them to gain insights about life itself.

This is such a unique and favorite film of mine. It's such an awesome film with superb acting performances. The Criterion release contains alot of additional extras. The film is very moving and a sentimental journey in the lives of those on-screen. Ellar Coltrane does such a great job and we watch him grow up over 12 years. Simply magnificent ! Don't hesitate, order it and sit back and take it all in and enjoy. It's Wonderful...Time sure files by !!!

I always love Richard Linklater film's and he is one of my favorite directors. This special edition collector's edition is one of the finest and has many extra features, including making of, and several excellent interviews with cast and film-makers. It is MUST have if you love this film.

I'm usually not into films of this type, but it's such a unique experience that I loved it anyway. A great Criterion release.

The idea of filming this movie over 12 years is fascinating and works even better than I expected. I have recommended this film to almost everyone. We really get to see the actors age. It must have been a risk to create a film that counts on having the whole cast keep coming back together to shoot the next scenes over such a period of time! The film conveys change and time very powerfully. In an era when so many movies are almost entirely effects it was very power so see real actors age and mature. Coltrane was a brilliant casting choice. Again it must have been a risk to cast someone that young and know that they must carry the film over such a long period of time. It is a very personal story, but it is also a universal story. It will be interesting to see if this changes how films are made....I hope it does....

Una historia de una vida explicada de una manera tan real que no es difícil que puedas identificarte con algunos de los pasajes. Es como una biografía sin necesidad de entrar en situaciones ni incomodas ni escabrosas. Es la descripción real de el desarrollo de una persona hasta superar la adolescencia. Muy buena.

Película preciosa

Es una película que muestra cómo es la vida en realidad, con sus momentos dulces y amargos mientras somos testigos del paso del tiempo y el desarrollo de la madurez de sus personajes. Sin duda es un clásico que no pretendía serlo.

No esperéis más de la película que de vuestra propia vida, porque habla de la vida. No hay añadidos para enganchar mas que la propia vida del chico que quiere reflejar la película. Preciosa.

La película en sí me ha decepcionado algo. Esperaba más de un proyecto tras 12 años de trabajo. Creo que le falta intensidad narrativa. A destacar 'Family of the Year' con su magnífica canción "Hero".
