It will not fit a fob key. Also it will scratch anything you can stick it to. Probably meant to be used for under the vehicle carriage only.

How long of a key can it hold?

it will hold pretty much any normal size key... but the problem is that it will fall off and you will loose the key and have to call a locksmith anyways...
